Swagg Sponsored Post ~ Best Gift I Ever Gave

December 15, 2010 By Emily 1 Comment

SWAGG is a free mobile app (download here) that lets you shop smarter using your mobile phone. Buy, send or swap SWAGG GIFTS and organize your old school plastic gift cards.

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

We all know the traditional Christmas Carol, but have you ever thought about what the best give you ever gave was?

While you are busy making your lists this year, maybe take a little time to reflect on the best gift you ever gave. For me it really helped to reflect on the meaning of the holiday season.

The Best Gift I ever gave was not for someone I know. In fact, the best gift I ever gave isn’t something you can pack into a box or wrap with a large ribbon.

The Best Gift I have ever given is the gift of My Time.

From the time I was a little girl, my mother always made sure we knew how important it was to give gifts to those in need. Whether it was the soup kitchen, or the mitten tree, or buying gifts for a family who couldn’t afford it that year, giving the gift of my time in any form has really helped to remind me the true reason for the season.

If my mother is reading this, I am sure she would tell you I wasn’t always so into going to the soup kitchen, but I always remember having a good time.

I think that continues to be true to this day, I may not always start off excited about spending my time doing something for someone I don’t know, especially nowadays when my time is stretched so thin.

But no matter what and without fail, each time I do, whether it is the simple act of donating to a charity in need, or actually donating my time to a particular cause, I am always reminded that,

My Time is the Best Gift I have ever given, or could ever give.

I grew up in the Girl Scouts and the biggest thing I took away from all those years was the importance of volunteering. I agree 110% percent, it IS the greatest gift you can give.
