Blogiversary: The yearly anniversary of someones web-log (blog) – Urban Dictionary.com
Well, technically it was July 2nd. I swear it was just yesterday my little man was a smooshy squishy little newborn and I began to blog as a way to record his growth and development milestones, and as a way to keep in touch with family who live no where near Las Vegas.
Want to see my first post? – Check out Squishy is One Month Old!!
I can’t believe how much life has changed in two short years.
Blogging has become so much more to me then I ever anticipated it to be.
10. Blogging has brought me headfirst into the world of social media, and I love being able to use it raise awareness for causes that are near and dear to me.
9. I have met so many amazing friends through my blog. Some have turned into real life friendships, and others continue to be amazing online support.
8. Looking back two years ago, I never would have thought I would turn my blog into a business. I never saw the opportunities my blog has given me, from product review, sponsored posts to make some side income, and even trips! (Heading to Disneyland this summer thanks to my blog!)
7. I love that I can go back and see exactly what my son was doing at 6 months or 18 months. Documenting his growth here has brought such joy to me as a mother. A virtual baby book if you will. I really should go back and print it out now before it becomes to overwhelming to do so…
6. The sanity that blogging has brought into my life is priceless. Seriously, writing here has truly keep me from losing my mind at times. Especially with the Hubs deployed.
5. I certainly didn’t foresee my blog growing as fast as it has. Going from 3 readers (all family members) to over 2000 still astounds me.
4. 781 posts and 20,500 comments is unbelievable at times. The support from strangers has been so humbling and has even brought me to tears at times.
3. Did you know that my blog was private for nearly 8 months? Yep, I dove head first into the blogging world and encountered some less than supportive people right off the bat. Mean spirited comments kept me at bay for a long time. I firmly believe that taking breaks or cutting out the crap in your life is something that makes you a better blogger.
It did for me! I came back to the world of public blogging in June of 2010. Knowing more what to expect, and staying away for negative avenues. I was so apprehensive to do it, but since being back I have had such an amazing response. There are still days/weeks where I get into a blogging funk, but what keeps me coming back is my love for writing and sharing, and the amazing supportive friends I have made here.
2. I had no clue I would be attending conferences about blogging and social media. I am heading to Park City Utah tomorrow and attending my 2nd blogging conference – evo ’11 Conference. I am super excited to meet so many amazing bloggers, see some friends again!
1. Not knowing what the next few years will bring. Blogging keeps me on my toes, keeps me connected, and allows me to share the memories, milestones, and more.
What does Blogging mean to you?
