10 things I would like to accomplish in my 30’s

September 12, 2011 By Emily 17 Comments

"Birthday Candles"

I turned 30 4 days ago.ย  I have to say, honestly turning 30 didn’t scare or bother me.

Obviously, I wouldn’t be telling you my real age if I had any issue with it…

I think people who have issues with their age really have issues with the lack of things they have accomplished in their lives.

I accomplished lots that I am proud of in my 20’s. Finding a man who makes me a better me, and creating a son with him is pretty much at the top of that list.

The 2nd thing I am most proud of having accomplished in my 20’s was finding something something I love doing that is just mine.ย  (Blogging – and turning it into what it has become today.)

So without further ado:

10 Things I would like to accomplish in my 30’s.
(In no particular order)

"Australian Vacation" "Sydney Australia" "Australia"

1. Take a vacation to Hawaii AND Australia.

2. Learn ASL.

3. Grow our family.

4. Turn my blog into something that will pay at least 1/2 bills.

5. Go on more dates with my husband.

6. Lose 50lbs and keep it off forever through daily fitness and healthy living.

7. Get more involved with my favorite charities and fundraising efforts.

"Learn to Sew" "Sewing Machine"

8. Ride a 20/40/60/100 mile bike ride/race

9. Learn how to use my sewing machine and actually make something I am proud of.

10. Go on girls only trip with my mother.

What do you want to accomplish this year or the next 10?

Hope that you will be able to achieve your goals. I too hope to go on more dates with my husband if I’m able to get a baby sitter for the 3 kids. Australia is a great place to visit. I used to study there when I was in Uni.

I really liked your list and great insight on why some people are upset about their ages. I haven’t thought about it that way before. I liked your goal of making more projects on your sewing machine and I loved your goal of going on more dates with your husband.

Hey! I turned 30 on Sept. 9th! It’s been bothering me a little bit here and there, but my 20’s were not really the best decade for me and I think that’s probably why I feel like they just went by too fast. I met my ex-husband when I was 21, we were married when I was 24, and then we separated last year and got divorced at the beginning of this year. It was a rough relationship from the start, and we probably should not have ever gotten married. I have no children yet, and when I was a little girl, I always dreamed of having a bunch of kids.

But, I’ve been dating a wonderful man for a while now, and I’m pretty sure that he is THE one. We talk about getting married and having kids, buying a house, all that great adult stuff. I’m actually kind of glad that I waited until my 30’s to do all this stuff. I’m wiser, more experienced, and know exactly what I want now. In my 20’s I was lost, confused and didn’t have a clue what I wanted.

I also have a huge list of things I want to accomplish in this decade, quite similar to yours!

So here’s to the 30’s! I hope they treat us both well!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Happy belated birthday!

      Mindy!
Wow it does sound like you had a difficult decade! But like you said you seem to have found someone who is right for you, and shares your goals! That is amazing. Good for you for keeping your eyes open, and continuing to dream toward your future! I wish you so much love and success for your 30s! I have a feeling you are going to rock this decade! Happy Birthday! I hope you enjoyed your special day!
      Best,
      Emily!

I turned 36 this year, and many of the items on your list form turning 30 were part of my list for this decade. This was a good reminder. I’m going to dig out my diary and see how far I’ve come/what I still have to do. Great list. I hope you’re accomplishing the ones you’ve decided are important and aren’t beating yourself up about not doing ones that you may no longer find important. Best!

Hey! Happy 36!! Thanks for your kind words! I hope you dig list out and surprise yourself. I use these lists as a guideline. I know everyone’s lives change in ways they don’t foresee, but it always nice to write it down, which it sounds like you do!! ๐Ÿ™‚
