Wow — I wouldn’t have thought about getting locks changed/checked when you move. I don’t think we did that but it DEFINITELY makes sense!

You were smart to move to a higher floor after that. I know first floor rentals have a much greater chance of being broken into. My brother had it happen a few times when he had a ground floor apartment too.

These are all great steps to follow. I come from a small town where no one ever locked their doors and it was definitely something that I had to become very diligent about when we moved. You just never know when something can happen!

Since they cut our property crimes division here in town, everyone I know is way more cautious and aware of what is going on. We pretty much follow all of the tips you mentioned!!
