In the new Disney movie The Odd Life of Timothy Green, CJ Adams plays a ten year old boy Timothy Green who lives life by his own rules. Timothy Green isn’t quite like every other kid, but at the same time I know many children will relate to his character.
Often times in today’s society there is a lot of pressure on children to be mainstream and not to be different from others in their class. They worry of bullying and not fitting in or making friends is a real struggle for children today. What I loved about Timothy Green’s character is that he really sends a message that it is okay to be different, and to treat everyone the way you want to be treated.
CJ Adams is simply adorable in this role. His big brown eyes suck you in to his character from the first time you see him on screen. As a mother I couldn’t help be see aspects of my own son in him.
Q: What was your favorite part about playing the character of Timothy Green?
CJ Adams: Probably my favorite part of playing the character of Timothy Green was just being such a sweet boy. I just liked to play someone who was different and unique. That’s what I loved about being Timothy.
Q: Could you relate to Timothy Green’s experience?
CJA: Me and Timothy are very truthful. I wouldn’t lie about anything, but also probably the best thing about Timothy is that he treats anyone the same no matter how they act. That’s what I do.
Q: What do you hope kids will learn from the film?
CJA: I want kids to learn that this no matter how the person, who the person is, or how they act, (like a bully or anything), I want you to treat them the exact same you’d want to be treated.
When CJ isn’t acting he pretty much sounds like every other pre-teen well rounded boy. He loves sports and The Avengers!
Q: In the movie, you played soccer, is that the sport you normally play, or what other sports do you play?
CJA: Soccer is my main sport. If I had to play any sport to play for the rest of my life, it would be soccer, because I love soccer.
Q: Besides Timothy Green, what’s one of your favorite movies?
CJA: Probably my favorite movie other than the Odd Life of Timothy Green is, um, The Avengers because it is so well done. I thought it was really cool to watch and go all out, you know?
Q: Who is your favorite Avenger?
CJA: Probably my favorite Avenger would be the bad guy (LOKI) because he can duplicate himself.
You can see CJ Adams in THE ODD LIFE OF TIMOTHY GREEN in theaters everywhere on Wednesday, August 15th!
