Baby D Monthly Update | 11 Months Old

December 3, 2013 By Emily Leave a Comment

My baby turns 1 year old in 3 days!

3 DAYS!

Where on earth does the time go?  Obviously I’ve blinked too much because look how much he has grown?  As usual I am late with this post, BUT it is going up prior to him turning 12 months so that’s a win right?  Second Child Syndrome is real, and it’s full of mommy guilt!

Apparently second children also sucks the creativity out of me… I haven’t come up with an original introduction to these posts since he was born… Seriously look back at Baby D’s 10 Month Baby Update – I’m pretty sure I copy and pasted the previous few sentences…

Growth:

Baby D has gotten super long and skinny in the past month.  It’s as if the chub just fell right off my sweet chunk of a love!  I look forward to seeing how much he weighs and how long he is at his year appointment.  I imagine he is still hovering around 22.5 lbs and near or past 30 inches.Baby 0-5 MonthsBaby 6-11 Months

I love doing these collages. It’s neat to see how much he really has grown in 11 short short short months!

Looks:

Okay, time to face facts – he is certainly looking more like a little boy and less like a baby.  His hair is getting long, he’s got 8 teeth now!  2 popped out in the last week!  I still have NO clue what color his eyes are.  They are blue on the outside and hazel/green on the inside.  Sometimes they are very dark, other times full of light.  It’s almost as if he got half my eye color and half my husband’s eye color.

First & Milestones:

Gosh. This boy! He’s too much.  We joke that his big brother K is going to grow up and be a politician.  I think Baby D will grow up and be the person behind the politician that makes all the decisions!

He’s talking more and more.  I finally got to hear a “Mama” with intent.  Cue instant puddle of mom goo!

He’s so active now, this kid doesn’t like to slow down for anyone or anything!

New at 11 Months:

  • Blowing Kisses
  • Responding to questions with yes and no or by doing what he’s asked
  • Playing the “Sharing Game” aka the pass it back and forth game
  • Saying Mama
  • Standing (for longer periods of time) unassisted
  • Walking while holding parent’s hands
  • Teeth 7/8
  • Getting frustrated when he doesn’t get his way or bro bro takes his toys
  • Pointing at things and people

Food/FPIES:

Not much change here since his 8 month baby update.  Baby D is still exclusively breastfeeding.  The only “safe” food we know that he has is apples.  I recently gave him a freeze dried apple slice. He was SO happy.  We have an appointment with his allergist next week to discuss our next steps.

Sleep:

Remember my last post update on how much better he was sleeping at night? … Yeah, major regression here.  We are back to being up every 2-3 hours at night. I’m so tired, Baby D is tired. I just don’t know what is the cause of this.  He nurses and then goes back into his crib awake.  If I don’t go in, he will scream bloody murder.  Not cry, scream!  It’s not fun.  Maybe our next baby will sleep…

Language:

Baby 11 Months2

Baby D wants to say so much more than he does.  He is at the age where he has gotten really frustrated with signing.  He won’t do his signs that he does know… instead he will cry or point, or scream until he gets what he wants.  Not screaming crying, screaming screaming. Admittedly I’ve been slacking in the signing department too. I plan on trying to work on it this next month a lot.

All his words are when he chooses to say them.  You can’t ask him to say them, he picks the times.  Mama, Dada, Hi, and All Done are for sure.  We also think we have heard Bye Bye and Bro Bro.

Favorite Moment:

There are so many, but I’ve been really feeling grateful and enjoying breastfeeding lately.  It’s a few short minutes several times during our day where the world shuts out and it’s just us.  Breastfeeding is BEYOND exhausting at times, but it is such a true blessing.  Especially with his FPIES.

In a few short days my baby will be one years old. I still remember the excitement and joy of his labor and delivery like it was yesterday.  Every month with my sweet Baby D is so amazing. I’m so blessed to be his mama.   That smile is going to change the world.
