You are doing such a wonderful job of keeping this in the forefront of peoples minds! Meg, you should be really proud at all your efforts. I hope they all are able to return to their homes, and find peace in the memories of once was, and life in the moments that are yet to be!

Its quite surreal.

There is so much rebuilding to be done. Until now, this kind of disaster was always something that happened somewhere else. Its amazing how NZ & NZers have rallied around, but there is just so much to be done still. There are people still in limbo from the first earthquake in September last year …

We had a lot of kids from Christchurch attend the school my daughter is at for a few weeks – most are leaving to return home now as the school’s reopen up there. I was talking to one of the Mum’s and she was so looking forward to going ‘home’ – although with great trepidation as they are still having significant aftershocks on a daily basis – a 5.1 shake only a few days ago. And many of the families were not actually going back to their homes – as they are uninhabitable.

Thank you for sharing your story. I hope that she is able to grow stronger from what MN handed out. Spreading the word, and supporting via prayer can be as powerful as cash donations. Yes, Meg is pretty darn cool! 🙂

The only reason why she is lucky enough to say that her brother survived the quake is because his place of work was closed for repairs from the last quake. During this one, it was leveled.

A long-distance relationship is hard enough when you live in two different countries, but now my BIL and his girlfriend live in two completely different types of civilizations! Her entire life – day and night – is devoted to clean up and nothing about her future is known. While they were both interviewing for positions in Japan (another blow to their happy horizon), my BIL at least has the distractions of his part-time job and socialization in his stable world here in the states, his girlfriend, on the other hand, has not even had the chance to go into town to see how the cafe she has been working at has fared!

I send my prayers and love to New Zealand every night. If I were working, I would send money.Whether or not this long distance relationship will ever last, no one will ever know, but my husband and I agree, after having spent two months getting to know her this winter, we have a friend in New Zealand who deserves better than what Mother Nature has doled out for her.

PS – You and Meg Rock!

Thank you for reading – and taking action. The smallest actions have the biggest ripples! 🙂
