My blog friend Meg over at Be the Change Bookclub has been trying to do something to GIVE BACK. I am a true believer that even the smallest of donations can really make a big impact. If everyone donated $10 a month (two lattes) to their favorite charities, the whole world would be a better place. That may sound idealistic, but I believe in it!
Go check out Meg’s Blog Do Good – There can be no happiness if the things we believe in are different from the things we do
Currently Meg is trying to help fundraiser for the people of Christchurch New Zealand. I love when bloggers use social media to raise awareness for something they believe in. So I offered up on of my big felt flowers in the color of your choice just for helping spread the word on her fundraising efforts. Check out this video form Russel Crow:
Meg has two giveaways going on for those who help by donating, and for those who help by spreading the word.
For those who Donate:
And when you do donate, don’t forget to send a copy of your receipt to bethechangebookclub at gmail dot com and you’ll be in the draw to win up to US$80 of vouchers to spend at Better World Books. You can get all the details here.
The more people who enter, the bigger the giveaway …
If up to 25 people enter, I will offer a prize of a US$20 voucher
If I receive between 25 and 50 entries, I will reward the winner with a US$40 voucher
And if there are more than 50 entries, then the draw will be for an US$80 voucher
So spread the word!
For those of you who spread the word (whether or not you donate), I have a special giveaway:

Thank you for reading – and taking action. The smallest actions have the biggest ripples! ๐

My brother-in-law’s girlfriend lives in Christchurch and it has been life changing over there for them . The only reason why she is lucky enough to say that her brother survived the quake is because his place of work was closed for repairs from the last quake. During this one, it was leveled.
A long-distance relationship is hard enough when you live in two different countries, but now my BIL and his girlfriend live in two completely different types of civilizations! Her entire life – day and night – is devoted to clean up and nothing about her future is known. While they were both interviewing for positions in Japan (another blow to their happy horizon), my BIL at least has the distractions of his part-time job and socialization in his stable world here in the states, his girlfriend, on the other hand, has not even had the chance to go into town to see how the cafe she has been working at has fared!
I send my prayers and love to New Zealand every night. If I were working, I would send money.Whether or not this long distance relationship will ever last, no one will ever know, but my husband and I agree, after having spent two months getting to know her this winter, we have a friend in New Zealand who deserves better than what Mother Nature has doled out for her.
PS – You and Meg Rock!

Thank you for sharing your story. I hope that she is able to grow stronger from what MN handed out. Spreading the word, and supporting via prayer can be as powerful as cash donations. Yes, Meg is pretty darn cool! ๐

I live just an hour from Christchurch and we had no damage at all – so even from here it is hard to imagine the devastation – and the heartache. Its quite surreal.
There is so much rebuilding to be done. Until now, this kind of disaster was always something that happened somewhere else. Its amazing how NZ & NZers have rallied around, but there is just so much to be done still. There are people still in limbo from the first earthquake in September last year …
We had a lot of kids from Christchurch attend the school my daughter is at for a few weeks – most are leaving to return home now as the school’s reopen up there. I was talking to one of the Mum’s and she was so looking forward to going ‘home’ – although with great trepidation as they are still having significant aftershocks on a daily basis – a 5.1 shake only a few days ago. And many of the families were not actually going back to their homes – as they are uninhabitable.

You are doing such a wonderful job of keeping this in the forefront of peoples minds! Meg, you should be really proud at all your efforts. I hope they all are able to return to their homes, and find peace in the memories of once was, and life in the moments that are yet to be!
