I too have a love/hate (or maybe loathe) relationship with running (well and I still walk too) but getting out there and doing it makes me feel so good. One day I will be able to run the entire distances but right now getting out there and doing it is a huge accomplishment! So go you!!

My biggest work out must have are my Koss earbuds (I use the ones that go over your ear) as well as my Polar Ft4. I have to say though since getting the bluetooth enabled monitor for the chest strap I have had nothing but issues with it actually working well to monitor my HR.

I just found your blog in searching for people who have written about Cox Communications’ Take Charge! program. (Which I am working on reviving to be more relevant for parents.)

I am a “runner” (in quotes because I have a pretty volatile love/hate with running. Fitness is a constant challenge/effort. Good luck in your goal for the Las Vegas 5k run. 30 minutes for a 5k is a great goal to shoot towards! Runners world spits out some great running/training plans on their SmartCoach tool.

I am going to add you to my Feedly!
xo,
Jessica

I thought she looked sick and already on the anerexic side. I was shocked. I hope now that the “competition” is over and she’s won that she will get to a healthy weight.

Keep it up girl! You can do it!

Seeing the lack of steps through the day makes me want to move – so I guess it’s working!

You’re doing great. I was concerned about Rachel when she came out from behind those doors. I just hope that the people in her life will make sure that she is eating healthy and enough to support her rigorous workouts.

Whole 30 isn’t easy, but your meals always look good. As for Rachel, I do think she lost the weight quickly, but as far as how she looks, she looks perfectly healthy to me. I think when you’re overweight (obese), especially for a long time or most of your life, and then lose the weight, you look different. If she was this size to begin with, would people say the same thing? I hope she stays HEALTHY now.

If you get past the shock factor, she doesn’t look unhealthy. Her muscle tone looks good. Look at her pelvis, there aren’t any real visual bones. She has been working with trainers to reach her current weight.

There are perfectly healthy ways to drop weight FAST, in fact my father went through this. In his case, he was monitored by doctors and dropped to a weight that a lot of people wouldn’t be comfortable with. However, it is a weight that his doctor feels he needs to be at in order to stay healthy. At this weight, his diabetes is also completely under control without any medication and he is living a heart healthy lifestyle. While everyone swore it was unhealthy, it one of the main reasons he’s alive today.

I think we also need to take into account the fact that every body structure is different. I am 5’9″. I can (but am not now, darn cookies) be perfectly healthy between 125-130 lbs. Most people wouldn’t like those numbers, but it’s where I am the healthiest.

Instead of being so critical of her weight loss, I think we should all be proud of her accomplishment. She looks great and I’d be willing to bet her doctor would agree that she is in a much better place from a health perspective.
