Still Pregnant! 39 Week Baby Bump Pregnancy Update https://ourknightlife.com/2012/11/39-week-baby-bump-pregnancy-update.html https://ourknightlife.com/2012/11/39-week-baby-bump-pregnancy-update.html#comments Fri, 30 Nov 2012 08:50:25 +0000 http://www.familylifeinlv.com/?p=13482 39 weeks pregnant and still baking baby Monster Truck!

I seriously didn’t think I would make it here, but I don’t know why I thought I wouldn’t.  My hubs and I both are stubborn, and I think this little man is just going to do things on his own schedule!

I must say, I am really happy I took all these pictures!  Mostly in similar shirts, but regardless, it is hard to tell looking at yourself daily how much you actually change.  I thought things were feeling heavier this week, and by the looks of it, I did get bigger in just one week, and much lower!

I am actually still feeling pretty good.  Lots of Braxton Hicks, a little less patience by the end of the day, but overall, I really can’t complain.  I just can’t believe I am less than 1 week away to holding my second son in my arms.

I can really see the drop in the last week.  My chiropractor told me today I looked to be in excellent position.  I wonder what my OB will say tomorrow!?  The only “natural induction” I am really actively pursuing is acupressure from my Chiropractor after she adjusts my hips. I hate spicy food, and castor oil just seems like a bad idea to me.  I may ask my OB to strip my membranes tomorrow as it will be my last prenatal visit.

I couldn’t leave this post without giving a little shout out to the soon-to-be big brother!  He has been such a trooper lately.  With hubs working 6am-2pm, and me having no less than 4 doctors appointments per week, he has been dragged to quite a few appointments lately.  Usually, he is pretty awesome and just hangs out playing the iPad while mommy gets monitored.

I try and schedule appointments during preschool, but even then it doesn’t always turn out as planned.  This week I went in during preschool, but they didn’t have an Ultrasound room available, so after monitoring, I headed back to pick him up, and then back to the doctor’s office.  As much as he drives me nuts, he is a pretty great little boy!

I can not wait to see him meet his baby brother!

I figured I should probably do another journal update since I haven’t done one since my 36 week journal.  Plus for 100% sure this time next week I will be holding a little baby Knight in my arms.  Whether he comes on his own or waits til his scheduled c/s only time will tell.  This will be my last journal entry for baby Monster Truck while he is still in my belly!

How far along? 39 weeks 1 day

Total weight gain:  When all is said and done I will have put on just over 40 lbs for this pregnancy.  I would have liked it to be a smaller number, but I am okay with it as it is less than my last pregnancy!

Maternity clothes? I am actually almost too big for some of my maternity clothes… :O

Stretch marks? In the past two weeks my old stretch marks have turned some pretty shades of red…

Sleep: Pregnancy insomnia has kicked in full force!  Lying down is pretty painful.  I do still take my almost daily naps though…

Best moment this week: Seeing my belly has dropped!

Miss Anything? While I am still dreaming of Lemon Danish… I am pretty much not eating too much these days… I have no room left for food!

Movement: My belly is now a complete alien takeover zone!

Food cravings: Mexican Pizza’s from Taco bell without beef have been a bi-weekly craving (boo!), and hummus.  I love hummus.

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Chicken and too much of any food.

Fitness: Does watching my son swim at Lifetime Fitness count? LOL.  Just daily walks at this point.

Labor Signs: A LOT of Braxton Hicks. Baby has certainly dropped.

Symptoms: Heartburn, Sciatic, SPD, Gestational Diabetes.

Belly Button in or out? Half in half out.

Wedding rings on or off? Off.

Happy or Moody most of the time:  Depends on the day!

Looking forward to: Meeting my son!

NOT looking forward to: Wondering daily if I am in labor!

STILL NEED TO DO: Pack hospital bag! Name this baby. Install Co-Sleeper.

WISH ME LUCK!

38 Weeks Pregnant and the 22 Point Pregnancy Turn https://ourknightlife.com/2012/11/38-weeks-pregnant-and-the-22-point-pregnancy-turn.html https://ourknightlife.com/2012/11/38-weeks-pregnant-and-the-22-point-pregnancy-turn.html#comments Mon, 26 Nov 2012 18:00:37 +0000 http://www.familylifeinlv.com/?p=13359 It’s official! I am currently more pregnant at 38 weeks 4 days than I have ever been before.  Granted, I only have the one previous pregnancy to compare it to, but even more pregnant than before I still feel so much better than I did with my first son.

"38 Weeks Pregnancy" "Pregnancy Update" "38 Week Bump" "Pregnancy Pictures"

38 weeks pregnant!

VBAC or C-Section?

You may remember my concern at 36 weeks with my OB telling me that they were going to induce me at 38 weeks for baby’s size.  I am not comfortable with being induced only because they are concerned baby is big.  At 37 weeks we had a big ultrasound with my high risk OB.  I have been going for twice weekly monitoring and ultrasounds, but this one was to check on baby’s size and see how he was growing.  As with all of our other growth ultrasounds he was measuring right on with his previous growth.

He was measuring just about 40 weeks, but my Dr. was not super concerned because baby’s abdomen and head were measuring the same.  If his abdomen was measuring bigger than his head, then he said he would have been concerned that the Gestational Diabetes was causing increased growth and that there would be a high risk of shoulder dysplasia if I delivered naturally.

Since he was measuring the same though, my Dr. gave me the go ahead to try and see what my body could do.  However, he believes if my body has not gone into labor on it’s own by 40 weeks, that I need to schedule a repeat C-Section.  The reasoning for this would be baby’s size (My son was 10.2 lbs. at 38 weeks), and that induction with previous C/S has a high risk of not working.  I am okay with this.  I feel it is a good compromise, and honestly while I know I could deliver a 10 lb. baby, I am not sure I could or would want to if baby was much bigger than that with a high risk of the induction failing.  I realize that not everyone will agree with this, but I truly feel like it is the best for my body, and if for some reason I make it to 40 weeks, I can always re-address the situation with my doctors if I feel differently.  I really feel like I have a good team behind me, and I know my options.  That is the most important thing to me, to know what my options are and to be able to pick what is right and best for me and the baby.

In the meantime I will be doing lots of natural things to get my labor going, including asking my chiropractor to assist me with getting my body and baby ready for delivery.  Wish me luck!!

Random Pregnancy Tidbits

I am getting closer to being ready for this baby to be here.  He has a crib assembled, cloth diapers are washed and stuffed, storage for said diapers has been purchased and assembled, and his room is getting closer everyday to looking more like a nursery and less like an office.

My hospital bag is mentally packed… I plan on fixing that asap this week.

I have a bruise on my belly from repeatedly bumping it while using public restrooms… that latch gets me every time!  Those stalls really aren’t made for protruding bellies or maybe I just need to think thinner!

We are still working on picking out a name…

I think my belly may be dropping a little bit. What do you think?

"36 week baby bump" "37 week baby Bump" "38 week baby Bump" "Pregnancy pictures"

I do think I stood further back in the last picture than I did in weeks prior so it made it a bit hard to tell…

The 22 Point Pregnancy Turn…

What is the 22 point pregnancy turn?  Try laying in bed, and realizing that you are too uncomfortable on one side, but dread making the turn to the other side.  While my sciatica and SPD have been controlled pain-wise with my weekly chiropractic visits, the one place that has never ceased to be painful is flat in my bed.  Rolling from one side to the next is like trying to pull out of a parking space with and inch of room on all sides and doing 22 point turns to get to where I want to be.  The grinding and shooting pain pretty much sucks and I swear my hips are going to split in half do to the relastin… My husband laughs with me as it really is the only thing I can do.  Laugh at the fact that something so easy is so hard this late in pregnancy.  If you saw it – you’d laugh too!

Pregnancy Update! 36 Week Baby Bump https://ourknightlife.com/2012/11/pregnancy-update-36-week-baby-bump.html https://ourknightlife.com/2012/11/pregnancy-update-36-week-baby-bump.html#comments Fri, 09 Nov 2012 07:17:20 +0000 http://www.familylifeinlv.com/?p=13127 36 WEEKS!  WHAT!

"Pregnancy" "Baby Bump" "36 weeks Pregnant" "Pregancy Update"

You would think at this far along I would have a lot done by now, but just for kicks let’s talk about what I don’t have done…

  • I don’t have my bags packed.
  • We haven’t done anything to the nursery.
  • We don’t have a name picked out.
  • I have a plethora of clothes to wash.
  • I don’t have baby’s diapers washed yet.

I know there are a lot more things to add to that list, but I can say I have a few things done.  I have a place for baby to sleep when he comes home (in a co-sleeper), I plan on breastfeeding again so that is taken care of, and I have his car seat all ready to go.  So really, if baby was to come early, we’d be okay.  We plan on spending the weekend in the nursery and the store picking up last minute items.

There really is a lot to look forward to in the next couple of weeks!

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be having a baby shower this time around.  I know it seems silly to be so excited, but with Squishy, my family lived too far away, and honestly my “friends” were more girls I would go out with who weren’t at the same stage of life I was.  While I had a wonderful weekend where my Aunt and Mom came to visit and shop for baby, I always felt a little sad I didn’t have a baby shower.  It’s amazing what changes in a few years.  I am so thankful to have AMAZING girlfriends who wanted to put together a little shower for me.  For me it has nothing to do with the gifts, but rather the whole idea of celebrating the baby with friends.  I can’t wait!!

I’ll be sure to share some pictures from that day!  And speaking of pictures I am also really looking forward to having a maternity photo shoot/family pictures done with TNG Photography!  I didn’t do any with Squishy, but this time it just seems right to mark our family before the arrival of Baby Monster Truck.  If only I could decide on what to wear!

I have to say, with everything that has been going on medically lately I am enjoying looking at the positives.  In my 32 week pregnancy update, I had just found out that I have Gestational Diabetes.  Since then I have not only started a new diet, 6 times daily finger pricks, twice weekly monitoring, and also nightly injections of insulin.  While my numbers are controlled during the day with diet, my fasting numbers are always high.  These are the numbers that seem to have the most impact on baby, so they started me on insulin.

"Gestational Diabetes" "Pregnancy Diabetes"

Other than a million appointments a week (okay, just 4…) and the pricks and sticks, I feel SO much better at this point in my pregnancy than I did with Squishy.  I think my side-by-side comparison pictures shows that too.  I feel much less swollen at this stage in the game.  I think baby Monster Truck is sitting lower than Squishy was though so it is hard to tell who is bigger.  This will be the last comparison picture though, Squish was born at 38 weeks when I was induced for preeclampsia."Pregnancy" "Baby Bump" "36 weeks Pregnant" "Pregancy Update" "Pregnancy Comparisons" "2nd Pregnancy"36 weeks Baby #1 – 36 weeks Baby #2

One of the big bonuses of bi-weekly monitoring has been seeing baby Monster Truck so much.  Usually he has his face buried in my spine, but today he was turned toward my belly, and I was given a brief glimpse at his super chubby cheeks!  Yes, I am pretty sure baby will be big.  The question is now, HOW BIG?

Another four weeks have flown by! It’s hard to believe I am already in my 32nd week of pregnancy!  Quite a bit has changed for me since my 28 week pregnancy update.  Most importantly, I failed both the one hour and three hour glucose tests.  Which means I have Gestational Diabetes.  As I haven’t been to see a counselor or even my Doctor since my diagnosis, I am not sure what it means at all.  I don’t know that other than keeping an eye on what I eat and testing my sugars it will mean anything.  However, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t upset and I didn’t have concerns.

"32 weeks" "weeks pregnant" "32 weeks pregnant" "32nd week of pregnancy"

Swollen face…

Could this be the reason why I have been so easily tired my whole pregnancy?  The reason behind the many headaches I have suffered?  I don’t know.

Does this mean that my hopes of having a VBAC is now over? I don’t think so.  When I learned I had not passed the one hour, my Doctor reassured me that in addition to watching my sugars, weight, and diet, we would just continue to watch baby’s size.  I have already had a big baby, which was the reason (with my 38 week induction) that I had a C-section in the first place.  So that concern was already there and doesn’t appear to have changed.  I suppose only time will let me know what this means for the rest of my pregnancy.

If there is one thing I have learned from these past four weeks, it is that it is time I surrender to my body, and stop trying to control so much of this pregnancy.  At about 30 weeks pregnant I was taking my yoga class at Lifetime Fitness.  It is a Pilates/Yoga fusion class which I really enjoy a lot.  Except this time, I was struggling through the class big time.  At one point, I sat down on my mat, and must have looked pretty defeated.  The instructor came up behind me and rubbed my shoulders a bit and said,

“You are doing great, you are doing fine.  You should only do what your body lets you do.”

I sat and cried in class after she said that.  I needed to hear that, that day, and at that time.  Not just about my yoga practice, but about life in general.  Thankfully, the hubs is coming home VERY SOON!!  I know that I have only so much control over what my body does.  I guess it is time to start listening to it more.

In more fun news, I am getting more and more excited to meet my second little man.  He has hiccups all the time.  Really, all the time.  For nine hours straight the other day!!  My mother said my pregnancy sounds a lot like her pregnancy with me.  My son is a lot like my husband in personality, it is fun to think that this child may have a bit of mine in him.

Oh, wait… I was crazy as a child…

Yay for hitting the third trimester mark. It amazes me how much has changed in my body since my 24 week pregnancy update!

"Pregnancy" "Baby Bump" "28 weeks pregnant"

I can’t believe we are in the home stretch, and in the same breath, I can’t believe I still have 12(ish) weeks left to go.  I feel about as big as a tent at this point, so much for not gaining much weight this pregnancy.  My last OB appointment put me at 22lbs gained in 28 weeks.  I said to my husband in the beginning that as long as I could stay at 40 or under this pregnancy I would be happy.  I know that seems like a lot for most pregnancies, and I had hoped to be a lot under that, but at this point I think I am accepting reality and am just thankful for a healthy pregnancy.  I  do think I look bigger at 28 weeks than last pregnancy…  I am also starting to swell, which right now my OB is contributing to the heat here, but I am crossing my fingers that this isn’t anything like my last pregnancy swelling… 20lbs of water weight in the last 4 weeks of pregnancy and pre-e was not fun.  I am planning on cutting out some of my salt intake to be safe, and starting a food journal to make sure I am eating the best I can.

"Pregnancy" "Baby Bump" "Pregnancy Pictures" "Growing Baby Bump" "Baby Bump Comparison" "28 weeks pregnant" "28 weeks Baby bump"

Speaking of huge… I am still working out at my gym Lifetime Fitness, and loving all the class options they have for me and my schedule.  Lately I have been taking advantage of the open swim times and a few classes.  Last week I took a Yoga/Pilates Fusion class that was done in a heated room and I LOVED it!! It was hard, but not too hard.  I burned a ton of calories, drank a ton of water, and felt like my body melted away some of the tension I have been carrying in my back.  Right now they only offer that one once a week, but I plan on continuing as long as I can!

Another thing that was pretty amazing was getting my 3D Ultrasound done.  I will share more pictures, but here is a sneak peek!!  My baby Monster Truck sure looks a lot like his big brother in this scan!

"Baby Bump" "Pregnancy" "Ultrasound Pictures" "3D Ultrasound Pictures"

How far along? 28 weeks 5 days

Total weight gain: +22 (Nothing to do but sigh… my OB is not concerned)

Maternity clothes? No other options at this point… even my regular t-shirts are starting to get short.

Stretch marks? Beginning to wonder if some of them are new…

Sleep: I pretty much can’t function without a daily nap!!

Best moment this week: Seeing baby Monster Truck up on the big screen during my 3D ultrasound.  He looks a lot like his big brother already!

Miss Anything? Beer.  I swear I don’t drink that much, but the only thing I have missed this pregnancy is a refreshing cocktail… especially on hot days or days when my 3 year old gives me a run for my money.

Movement: Tons.  Still more mellow then Squishy was when he was in my belly, but lots of knees in my belly. (Thanks to my 3D Ultrasound I now know what I’m poking at or what is poking me!)  Also lots of hiccups lately! (For the baby not me!)

Food cravings: I don’t know how I missed this before, but the only craving that has stuck around long term is anything Lemon.  Lemon cake, lemonade, lemon tea… Still digging cheese, Mexican food, and pretzel bread… although given my weight gain I think it’s time to lay off a bit…

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Chicken.

Fitness: See above update!

Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks.

Symptoms: Heartburn, Sciatic, SPD, loss of patience.

Belly Button in or out? It’s still in, but surprisingly it’s starting to come out a bit!  My last pregnancy it looked like a deep crater where my belly button is.

Wedding rings on or off? Off, but I am thinking this is due to heat and some swelling I have been dealing with.

Happy or Moody most of the time:  Mostly happy, although I am seeing my patience spread thinner these days.

Looking forward to: Bi-monthly doctors appointments.

NOT looking forward to: Glucose Testing! BOO!! (Still haven’t done this yet!)

And finally a look through the weeks!  I am so happy I have done this with both pregnancies.  It is great to look back and see how I have compared to my first pregnancy, and how I am growing in this one.  I know my husband has enjoyed seeing it as well, as he can’t be here to see it first hand.  Poor guy deploys at 14(?) weeks and will be coming home to a 34(?)week pregnancy.  I am so happy he will be home, but wow! Talk about a change!

Well, it seems that baby Monster Truck is growing just fine as you can definitely notice a change in this week’s baby bump from my 20 week update!

24 weeks is a milestone in many pregnancy’s often referred to as Viability Day!  (The point in which many hospitals will step in an provide major medical care if a baby is born early.)  It feels great to have made it this far along with as few symptoms as I have had.

Weight Gain

As far as weight gain goes, I have definitely started to put on some weight.  I attribute it to my incessant need for carbs (must learn self control), my newly developed sweet tooth, and this baby.  This is usually the point in my pregnancy when I tend to put on the most weight.  Last pregnancy I saw the biggest increase on the scale between 24-30/32 weeks.

Fitness

I have also been starting to really fight my sciatic pain and now have developed grinding in my pelvis that results in clicking and pain when I do cardio.  My lovely OB informed me that the it is the relaxin in my pelvic bone. (Also known as SPD)  He told me that he had one lady deliver and separate her pelvis over 6 inches during delivery. (INSERT SHOCKED FACE HERE!) She had to use a walker for about a month until it returned to normal.  As a result, I have taken a few weeks off of the gym.  (I miss my Lifetime Fitness!!)

I have however re-worked my fitness schedule to accommodate my changing body.  I will be doing 2 yoga classes and an aqua zumba class at Lifetime Fitness starting next week when K is in preschool.  I love that they have so many options for classes that work with my busy schedule.  I am hoping this will control the weight gain a little bit, but also provide me relief in my pelvic and back area.

How far along? 25 weeks 1 day

Total weight gain: +14

Maternity clothes? Yep, I find them so much more comfortable.

Stretch marks? Nothing new.

Sleep: Going well, especially days I get naps!!

Best moment this week: Realizing at this point last pregnancy I was in so much pain I could barely walk.  While I am having issues again, I believe the exercise has truly helped my body to maintain better.

Miss Anything? Alcohol… A nice fruity cocktail! Which is funny because I don’t drink often at all.

Movement: Lots! Baby Monster Truck is starting to be more active, but still WAY more mellow that Squishy was.

Food cravings: Cheese, Pretzel bread, pizza!  (OH man!! How good would a pretzel bread pizza be!!)

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Chicken.

Fitness: See above update!

Labor Signs: Nope! (not for a very long time I hope!)

Symptoms: Heartburn, Sciatic, SPD, a wee bit of insomnia.

Belly Button in or out? It’s still in.

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy, but missing my husband.

Looking forward to: 3D Ultrasound!

NOT looking forward to: Glucose Testing! BOO!!

Speaking of the my two pregnancies… it looks like I am right on track and maybe (gasp!) a little bigger than I was at 24 weeks with Squishy! I actually feel more fit everywhere else this pregnancy except the belly! (Please excuse the awful picture from Squishy’s pregnancy. Not sure why it got so grainy.)

Maternity clothes have sure come a long way from the frumpy and outdated numbers our parents wore.  Companies like Milan Maternity are making pregnancy fashionable again!  Finally you can finally celebrate your growing bump with clothes that are on trend, comfortable, and affordable.

I was given the opportunity to review this adorable Luciana top in Watermelon Dot ($39).  I happen to be in love with polka dots and pink, so this was the perfect top for me.

A new favorite, this top will see you through all stages of pregnancy and be a perfect nursing top afterwards. V-neckline with ruffle detail and empire waist. For discreet and modest nursing, move the outer layer over and lift the layer hidden under the ruffle. 35% cotton, 65% polyester. Imported. Available in White Dot and Watermelon Dot.

My Review

I love this top.  I pretty much wear it every week, and love that I can still use it after the baby is born for nursing.  Plus the added bonus that the pleated/empire waist will give me a little extra coverage for my post baby belly.  The cotton is super soft and comfortable.  I love the ruffle detail along the neckline."Maternity Tops" "Milan Maternity" "Maternity Fashions" "Maternity Clothing" "Nursing Tops"

The only small issue I have is the sizing of this particular top was very small in the chest area.  The Milan Maternity dress I love did not have the same issue. I don’t think I’d be able to wear it much longer as my bust tends to get pretty big toward the end of pregnancy, but it is the perfect 1st and 2nd trimester top for me.

20 Week Baby Bump Pregnancy Update! https://ourknightlife.com/2012/07/20-week-baby-bump-pregnancy-update.html https://ourknightlife.com/2012/07/20-week-baby-bump-pregnancy-update.html#comments Thu, 26 Jul 2012 01:28:56 +0000 http://www.familylifeinlv.com/?p=11484

Meet baby Monster Truck!  For the previous 20 weeks I have been calling this baby “Baby Bee”.  However, Squishy has decided his name should be Monster Truck, and who am I to argue with a 3 year old!

Baby gives me a thumbs up!!

My little acrobat! He has his chin tucked to his chest, his hands behind his back, and his feet pushed up above his head!

This ultrasound was done at 18 weeks 6 days.  My mother was in town, and we were able to find out very clearly we are having another beautiful boy!  After the ultrasound we went to a park and took some fun pictures for the big baby gender reveal to my hubs overseas.  He was over the moon.

Overall I am feeling really great.  The only thing that is very frustrating to me is the sciatic pain.  I dealt with it during my last pregnancy as well, but all I want to do is go to the gym and get a good sweat session on, but this is hindering that big time…

I don’t think my bump changed too much from 16 week bump to today.  I am loving feeling the baby roll and kick even from the outside.  Sometimes I almost forget I am pregnant until the baby moves… Crazy right!  Being pregnant the second time is very different than the first time around.  My life is less dreaming about the baby to be, and more living in the moment with my son.  That is not to say I am not super excited for this baby, but rather my life is just a lot busier than it was last pregnancy. Speaking of my last pregnancy… you’ll have to take my word for it. My belly looks pretty much the same plus the stretch marks from my last pregnancy.  While I love my stretch marks, I didn’t feel like making everyone love them! (You can thank me later!)

Isn’t funny that I virtually could have taken these pictures on the same day and not 3.5 years apart?  Later in the first pregnancy I dyed my hair red… I won’t be doing that this time!

How far along? 20 weeks 6 days

Total weight gain: +8 (eek, 3 of that was last week!!)

Maternity clothes? Yep, I find them so much more comfortable.

Stretch marks? Nothing new.

Sleep: Going well, especially days I get naps!!

Best moment this week: My son feeling baby kick for the first time.

Miss Anything? Chicken! Serious food aversion here, but I miss the convenience of it.

Movement: Kicks, flips, and feeling it from the outside.

Food cravings: Cheese, Pretzel bread!

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Chicken.

Fitness: Gah – I am so annoyed by this. I have the energy to do it, but my sciatic has been limiting me severely… I just want to sweat and not from the Las Vegas heat!

Labor Signs: Nope! (not for a very long time I hope!)

Symptoms: Sciatic flairs big time!

Belly Button in or out? It’s still in.

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy, but missing my husband.

Looking forward to: 22 week appointment!

This next week I will be flying to Florida to visit my father and step-mom.  I am praying I don’t swell up like a pumpkin, and that the salt water will feel amazing on my sciatic!
