Well, it seems that baby Monster Truck is growing just fine as you can definitely notice a change in this week’s baby bump from my 20 week update!
24 weeks is a milestone in many pregnancy’s often referred to as Viability Day! (The point in which many hospitals will step in an provide major medical care if a baby is born early.) It feels great to have made it this far along with as few symptoms as I have had.
Weight Gain
As far as weight gain goes, I have definitely started to put on some weight. I attribute it to my incessant need for carbs (must learn self control), my newly developed sweet tooth, and this baby. This is usually the point in my pregnancy when I tend to put on the most weight. Last pregnancy I saw the biggest increase on the scale between 24-30/32 weeks.
Fitness
I have also been starting to really fight my sciatic pain and now have developed grinding in my pelvis that results in clicking and pain when I do cardio. My lovely OB informed me that the it is the relaxin in my pelvic bone. (Also known as SPD) He told me that he had one lady deliver and separate her pelvis over 6 inches during delivery. (INSERT SHOCKED FACE HERE!) She had to use a walker for about a month until it returned to normal. As a result, I have taken a few weeks off of the gym. (I miss my Lifetime Fitness!!)
I have however re-worked my fitness schedule to accommodate my changing body. I will be doing 2 yoga classes and an aqua zumba class at Lifetime Fitness starting next week when K is in preschool. I love that they have so many options for classes that work with my busy schedule. I am hoping this will control the weight gain a little bit, but also provide me relief in my pelvic and back area.
How far along? 25 weeks 1 day
Total weight gain: +14
Maternity clothes? Yep, I find them so much more comfortable.
Stretch marks? Nothing new.
Sleep: Going well, especially days I get naps!!
Best moment this week: Realizing at this point last pregnancy I was in so much pain I could barely walk. While I am having issues again, I believe the exercise has truly helped my body to maintain better.
Miss Anything? Alcohol… A nice fruity cocktail! Which is funny because I don’t drink often at all.
Movement: Lots! Baby Monster Truck is starting to be more active, but still WAY more mellow that Squishy was.
Food cravings: Cheese, Pretzel bread, pizza! (OH man!! How good would a pretzel bread pizza be!!)
Anything making you queasy or sick: Chicken.
Fitness: See above update!
Labor Signs: Nope! (not for a very long time I hope!)
Symptoms: Heartburn, Sciatic, SPD, a wee bit of insomnia.
Belly Button in or out? It’s still in.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, but missing my husband.
Looking forward to: 3D Ultrasound!
NOT looking forward to: Glucose Testing! BOO!!
Speaking of the my two pregnancies… it looks like I am right on track and maybe (gasp!) a little bigger than I was at 24 weeks with Squishy! I actually feel more fit everywhere else this pregnancy except the belly! (Please excuse the awful picture from Squishy’s pregnancy. Not sure why it got so grainy.)

You don’t look bigger, just like you are carrying #2 higher (i.e. closer to your ribs) than #1.

I had really bad SPD with my last son — I despised all the clicking as I walked. I have had continued issues during this first year since his birth and have started going to a chiropractor to help.
