During the midst of celebrating Squishy’s second birthday, and enjoying Baybah and Squishy’s Birthday Blog Bash, I was invited by Jody Shervanick from Southern Nevada Military Families to participate in the first of a few events to prepare for Operation Showers of Appreciation.
Operation Showers of Appreciation is a nationwide organization that helps throw baby showers for deserving military families. Many of these families have spouses or loved ones who are deployed.
I attended a pot-luck event aimed to create diaper cakes for centerpieces for the big shower event. After eating some delicious food all brought by the volunteers, we settled in and got to rolling diapers! And let me tell you, we had a blast creating these cakes!
Alisha Basom from A Sweet Cheek Boutique came out and taught everyone how to roll the diapers and add a special touch.
The Nellis Cadets and Juniors came out in full support and made the afternoon very enjoyable with their creativity and wonderful help!
There were so many fun items to decorate the cakes with! Everyone had a blast choosing what to put on them!
I think they all turned out AMAZING!! Fox 5 News was on hand to catch all the action on camera!
On July 30th, over 100 expecting military moms will enjoy Nevada’s largest baby shower! Donations are still being accepted to ensure all these women have a whole basket full of goodies and necessities for their little bundle of joy. Operation Showers of Appreciation is still seeking donations and Volunteers for the event. If you would like more information about the event and the items they are seeking, or you would like to volunteer, please contact Jody Shervanick at jodyshervanick(at)hotmail(dot)com. You are also more than welcome to contact me directly and I will be happy to answer any question I have, or forward the press release to you.

This is great! I am a military wife, and I think that this is a an amazing gesture. So many times, the wives are lost in the shuffle. Thank you for helping with this, I bet the wives will be very grateful!

Thanks Stephanie, and you are right they often are. My hubs is former AirNG now works as a civilian for the military and still deploys a lot so I know first hand how it is too. Thanks for your kind comment!
