Sometimes I see all the technology our children have at their fingertips and I wonder how we ever did without! Ruckus Media Group is a wonderful group that is dedicated to providing quality educational media for children. You may remember I did a review for the classic storybooks that Ruckus Media Group had converted to storybook applications for your iPad complete with famous celebrities to voice the stories.
At Ruckus, we are pleased to be able to deliver high-quality, family-friendly, educational entertainment to a global market at a price-point that allows any family to build the foundation for a child’s library. – Ruckus Media Group
Well Ruckus Media Group is at it again with a new Amazon Rainforest game designed to teach children about the rainforest!
A mobile app designed to educate children about the interconnection between plants and animals in the Amazonian Rainforest. Designed for children ages eight through twelve, the app educates and entertains with thought-provoking facts about a variety of native wildlife from one of the most fascinating and delicate ecosystems on Earth.
Developed with Experts:
Compiled with the education experts from the Rainforest Alliance and Stepping Stones Museum for Children to develop original content for the app.
How to Play:
Survival is the name of the game! Players are dealt five species cards and play against the computer to create the best chance of surviving. Double tap the cards to learn about the rainforest animals and plants and to create the most favorable matchup. The winner is determined by having more survivors than the computer.
Goal of Game:
The goal of the game is to entertain while teaching kids about the rainforest and how the rainforest impacts the environment and their lives. We hope the game empowers children to take action that will help protect the planet.
The app was designed to stimulate minds and challenge children to use logic. Children interpret information gleaned from the species information cards and must choose the best arrangement of their cards for the best chance of survival.
More than a Hundred Facts:
Each card includes numerous facts about each species diet, eating habits, threats to survival and additional “cool facts” like “The nine-banded Armadillo has a stronger sense of smell than vision or hearing” or “The Capuchin Monkey can jump nearly nine feet to move from one tree to another.”
A portion of the proceeds from app sales will go to support education initiatives at the Rainforest Alliance and Stepping Stones Museum for Children.
