Keep the GREAT suggestions coming. We have an on-going list we will choose from each week. Some topics are ones we have done in the past – but that doesn’t mean we won’t revisit them!!

In order to qualify for this you need to blog about this week’s topic, and follow the hosts.

And the end of your post – suggest a topic for next week.

Comments letting us know you are participating are always great too. If we choose your blog, we will link back to your post the following week.

This Week’s Topic:Traveling with a Toddler (Revisited)
Traveling with a toddler has been a topic we have done in the past, but it has been almost 1 year, and I know that for me things have changed in that year.  I am older and wiser. Okay not really, but I do have more tips to share!
First off – I think you should check out my original post about traveling with toddlers.
That trip taught me a lot. I felt like I was better prepared now.  But as with traveling you never know what you are going to get…
"Kids Fly Safe" "Flying with Toddler"Toddler Travel Tip #1 – Buy the Cares Harness (You can also rent them through ebay.)  They go to age 4, so it will be worth it for future travel.  It made a world of difference in traveling with a toddler.
I purchased a seat for Squishy – at almost 2 he is just too squirmy to try an sit on my lap for a 4+ hour flight.  I chose not to bring our car seat – as my father has one at his house.  Instead I bought the CARES harness.
LOVED IT!  – LOVE LOVE LOVE it. The only thing I didn’t like was when Squishy fell asleep his head laid down on the chest buckles like he was being hanged. (He wasn’t, but it didn’t look comfy – so I wrapped his blanket around his neck to act as a buffer.)
Even the flight attendant on the first flight was impressed by how well it worked and helped to keep him in his seat.
Toddler Travel Tip #2 – Pack your own snacks including toddler sippy cups.  TSA did not give me any trouble.  I knew they would screen the milk, and I told them I had it as we went through.  Not one single issue!  Make sure you have a variety of snacks.  You will most likely not eat them all, but you never know what will keep your toddler from freaking out.
Toddler Travel Tip #3 – What will be will be.
You can be as prepared as you can possibly be.  But no one knows what will set a toddler off.  This last flight, my father picked up generic diapers when we ran out of our nature care diapers.  About 3 hours in I was smelling urine.  So I thought Squishy was really wet.  I took him to the bathroom, and he thought we were leaving.
When I took him back to our seats he FLIPPED.  Worst temper tantrum he has ever had.  He was so mad, and frustrated.  Not to mention he hadn’t had a nap yet.  He screamed and screamed.  And of course the seat-belt sign was on so we couldn’t walk.  He didn’t want anything, except to go bye-bye.
Finally after about 45 mins he fell asleep in my arms.
I was so embarrassed, and frustrated.
Thankfully, I had the sweetest lady sitting next to me.  She basically reminded me that it happens, the white noise covers a lot of the crying, and anyone who doesn’t understand, doesn’t matter.
Toddler Travel Tip #4 – Just Breathe – it will all be over soon!
