Welcome to the second post in my Living Local Las Vegas series; Vegas for Families!
Each week I will share a review on a new place or event in Las Vegas that is perfect for your Las Vegas family to enjoy spending time together.
If you have a suggestion, or would like to write a Living Local Las Vegas post, please email me at familyandlifeinlv(at)gmail.com.
Visit Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat where you come face-to-face with Royal White Tigers and Magical White Lions in their own jungle sanctuary. Also, discover a unique underwater paradise where you can view a family of Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins as they play both above and below the water’s surface.
Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden contains many features designed to enhance the comfort of the animals and provide spectacular viewing for guests. The open-air environment features a swimming pool with fountains and simulated mountain terrain for the tigers’ enjoyment and the public’s viewing.

About:
Walking into Siegfried’s and Roy’s Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat is like walking out of Las Vegas. The moment you step in and are greeted by the dolphin tanks, the neon lights and strip feel fall to the wayside.
My son’s eyes lit up the moment he say his first bottlenose dolphin jump out of the water, and that twinkle stayed the entire time.
Visitors can watch the dolphins both above and below water in several different tanks. There are no “timed” events , but if you just stay and enjoy the dolphins even for a few minutes you are bound to see them on a show. Whether they are feeding or playing, these dolphins are always doing something for the people.
Below the surface are glimpses into the tanks to watch the dolphins swim and play from a different angle then one would normally have to view. Along the walls there are facts and trivia for the guests to read and learn as they walk below the tanks.
This summer the Mirage welcomed a new dolphin calf. Born on August 20th, this male calf has not yet been named. This is the second calf born this year to the Dolphin habitat. You can see both calfs and their moms at the habitat.
There are always trainers walking around who are available to answer questions and help you and your family have a wonderful learning experience! Thy also have a trainer for a day program that allows you or your family a once in a lifetime learning opportunity with these amazing animals.
After you walk through the Dolphin Habitat, you step into the the Secret Garden’s world of Big Cats! Lions, Tigers, Panthers, and Leopards all take center stage in a magical cat garden.
The tropical atmosphere really transforms you once again into a completely different world outside the Las Vegas Strip. The White Lions are truly stunning and majestic.
Even though the space itself isn’t as large as one would imagine visitors can take their time roaming around and checking out the different animals. The first time I was there they had a baby tiger and a trainer set in it’s own little exhibit so you could really see what the life of a little cat is like.
I love Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. It is one place we really love to take visitors to. While it is local to Las Vegas, for the time you are in the exhibits you completely lose track of the fact that you are indeed in Las Vegas, NV. The facility is set up to allow guests and exotic experience with these amazing animals all while focusing on continuing education.
Don’t miss out on this Living Local Las Vegas spot! Truly an amazing day that will leave both you and your family with memories for years to come!

Is it bad that I don’t really trust their animals? It sounds cool, but seriously, I don’t.

Well, I think there is a big difference from putting animals on stage and expecting them to ignore their animal instincts, and then having them in a nice habitat behind barriers and away from people. Animals are just that – animals and shouldn’t be expect to behave less than that. The cats are all safely away from the people just like you would see in any zoo or habitat. Dolphins are not as aggressive by nature as Big Cats, so I wouldn’t be worried about that. It really is a nice way for kids in Las Vegas to see these animals they may never have another chance to.

Oh heck, I was kidding!!! 😉 It actually does sound like a nice place to visit, and I really like how Las Vegas has added so many of these family friendly attractions.
