Ten Motherhood Quotes from Inspirational and Famous People

October 3, 2011 By Emily 7 Comments

"Inspirational Mothers" "Moms" "Mother and Child"

Since my son was born, each time my hubs deploys for his job I find myself questioning my competency as a mother.

It hasn’t even been a week since my husband left, and already the thoughts creep into my head…

Can I do this?

I know I am a good mother.

I am capable of single parenting, I am capable of a lot of things.

I just need a boost every now and again.

I believe in the power of words…

In the wisdom of those who have done this before me…

If you bungle raising your children, I don’t think whatever else you do well matters very much.- Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

When I pick up one of my children and cuddle them, all the strain and stress of life temporarily disappears. There is nothing more wonderful than motherhood and no one will ever love you as much as a small child.- Nicola Horlick

The story of a mother’s life: Trapped between a scream and a hug. – Cathy Guisewite, “Like Mother, Like Daughter”

Having someone else to blame when there is a rude smell in the air.- Jane Horrocks

The best advice from my mother was a reminder to tell my children every day: ‘Remember you are loved.’-Evelyn McCormick

The joys of motherhood are never fully experienced until the children are in bed. –Author Unknown

Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaries jobs in my field since the payment is pure love.- Mildred B Vermont

It is not until you become a mother that your judgment slowly turns to compassion and understanding. – Erma Bombeck

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. – Tenneva Jordan

Motherhood has a very humanizing effect. Everything gets reduced to essentials. – Meryl Streep

Those are great quotes – hard pushed to pick a favorite – probably the “trapped between a scream and a hug”!

    Thanks for sharing.

    Here are my two favorites:

The first is from Teddy Roosevelt, after his daughter interrupted a Cabinet meeting in the White house;; “I can be President of the United States, or I can control Alice. I cannot possibly do both.”

And the second is from L.S. Vygotsky: “People with great passions, people who accomplish great deeds, people who possess strong feelings, people with great minds and a strong personality rarely come out of good little boys and girls.”
