Dear Squishy,
There are days, like today, where I love you more than anything in the whole entire world, but you just plain exhaust me.
Tons of testing, pushing, screaming, crying, tantrums, and more.
The joys of being two.
Recently I wrote about inspirational motherhood quotes, and today one in particular sticks out in my mind.
Most people might smile, laugh, and say “Amen, I know that is true!”
I hope that one day you may even say that yourself about your own child.
I, however, think of it in a different context.
I look at that quote and know days like today there are no truer words spoken.
You aren’t spending your days making them long for your mother for any other reason than that is what two year olds do.
But days like today, it isn’t until you are settled snug in your bed and I am able to look over our day and see the other moments that may the day great.
Like the way you put your Halloween bucket on your head and danced around like a crazy boy thinking no one was watching.
When you caught me smiling at you, you laughed and got even sillier.
Or the way you talked to your bunny and bear as you were falling asleep for your nap.
How when I stubbed my toe you saw I was hurt, you held out your hands to me and said “Come here Mommy” and gave me a huge hug like I do to you when you are hurting.
Except on days like today, when you are full of two year old vim and vigor, sometimes those moments get lost until you are snug in your bed.
Those are the small moments that are highlights of my day.
The joys of motherhood.
But you know what?ย I will let you in on a little secret.
Good days, bad days, crazy days, sick days, they are all better with you in my life.
That is the true joy of motherhood.
Xoxxo,
Mama

I love this post & I couldn’t agree more! Such a sweet boy you’ve got!
Better to have the toughest of times than none at all. Perspective after the moments helps us realize that. ๐
Awwww. What a sweet post! We have had some rough days around here lately, but once I put the kids to bed and beat myself up for all of the yelling I did that day, I sit back and think about all the fun we had too. Gotta love two year olds! ๐
“Good days, bad days, crazy days, sick days, they are all better with you in my life.” -Amen to that!!
I know EXACTLY what you mean! The days are only better because of our little active 2 year olds are in our lives. Squishy is such a sweet little boy.
