My husband and pocketbook are loving me right now…

March 19, 2012 By Emily 6 Comments

Last month I had the privilege to attend Blissdom in Nashville TN.  Once I arrived, the first thing I did was unpack.  While I was unpacking I realized that I had forgotten my toothbrush AND my shampoo and conditioner!  DOH!  How do you forget to essential beauty items?  Just what I needed for the hundreds of first impressions I would be making – bad breath and bad hair!

So, I headed down to register for the conference, and pick up my swag bag!  (Always a fun part of any conference experience.  Seriously, anyone who says they don’t enjoy it is lying!)  I was surprised at the weight of the bag, so after the newbie Blissdom gathering, I headed back up to my room to call for a toothbrush and drop off my bag.  Once upstairs I was thrilled to find TWO FULL SIZED bottles of VO5 Shampoo and Conditioner!  It couldn’t have been better timing.

But, wait!  VO5? I haven’t used that stuff since I was a little girl.  I didn’t think of VO5 as a salon quality beauty product, it always seemed to be the bargain product.  At about $2.50 per bottle you can’t expect that much from a product, or can you?  At this point I was in a “Beggars can’t be Choosers” situation and decided to give it a go.

Apparently, you can expect a salon quality experience when it comes to VO5.  I was impressed at how well the product lathered, how clean my hair felt post shampoo, and how soft the conditioner made my hair.  When I blow dried my hair I was happy to see how shiny it was, and how manageable my hair was.  Honestly, I wasn’t able to tell a difference between the way my hair looked when I used VO5 and when I used my $15+ bottles of shampoo. That’s bad news for my expensive shampoo and conditioners.

When I was able to talk to the VO5 representative that was at Blissdom I learned that the reason VO5 is named that is because there are 5 essential vitamins and nutrients in every bottle!

"VO5" "Shampoo and Conditioner"

  • Vitamin E – promotes scalp circulation and restores moisture
  • Vitamin C – protects hair from UV rays
  • Vitamin H (biotin) – promotes thicker, stronger hair
  • Vitamin B5 – a moisturizer and humectant that readily binds to hair
  • Vitamin B3 – moisturizes and promotes hair growth

I have since tried 3 total kinds of VO5 shampoo and conditioner.

  • VO5 – Extra Body Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner
  • VO5 – Kiwi Lime Clarifying  Shampoo & Conditioner (Love the smell!)
  • VO5 – Repair & Protect Strengthening Shampoo & Conditioner (my current favorite!)

Thank you VO5 for a great, affordable product! I can’t wait to dive into your other products a little daily indulgence! My hair, pocket book, and husband are also very happy with my switch.  I am also very happy to not that VO5 products are NOT tested on animals.

You can like VO5 on Facebook right now for a chance to win a $7,500 spa trip for you and four friends!  But, if you do win, I want to go with you!!

Disclosure: All products were given to me at Blissdom with no expectation of a post or review. I just liked the product so much I had to share it with you!

I love the VO5 Hot Oil Treatments! I remember my mom would do them when I was little. I think the best thing about VO5 is how long they’ve been around. You can’t have a crap product & still be in business that long! I’ll have to go pick up a bottle of the Repair & Protect Shampoo to try. Thanks for sharing!

That is awesome that you found an inexpensive shampoo and conditioner that you like! I wish some of these brands would make inexpensive shampoo that is safe for Keratin treated hair. ::hint hint::
