My son K is about to enter his second year of preschool and loves to learn. In addition to going a few days a week to school, he loves doing workbooks at home. I am always on the lookout for books and tools that will keep learning fun because at his age that is exactly what it should be!
Macmillian has developed a great line of books and activities called Schoolies geared specifically towards preschool and kindergarten aged children. (3+) My son loves them! In fact, he has actually been caught sneaking out of his room in the early am to play with them! Trust me, it’s hard to tell a child they can’t get up and learn!
About Schoolies:
Preschoolers will love to meet the colorful and unique cast of Schoolies characters, created by artist and designer Ellen Crimi-Trent and published in Priddy Books’ signature early learning formats.
We got to check out a full package of books!
My School Day – From waking up to favorite lessons to the bus ride home, kids will love learning to tell time as they spend a day with the Schoolies. Includes a play clock with moveable hands so young readers can turn to the right time as the Schoolies enjoy their day.
School House – Fold-out pages create four scenes in and around the Schoolies school house. Includes press-out play characters and accessories, plus sticker sheets.
Let’s Get Ready For School – Early learning book with wipe-clean pages so that all of the activities can be repeated, reinforcing learning.
Making Friends and My First Day of School Storybooks – Two reassuring and positive stories about overcoming shyness and being nervous to start school. Books include two sheets of fun Schoolies stickers.
Activity Flash Cards – Neat boxful of 26, double-sided Schoolies activity flash cards to help children learn their ABC, 123, colors, shapes and more.
My son loves to trace his letters, and I like that he sings EVERY time he opens his book!
He also really enjoys pretending he’s going to school with the Schoolies and has spent a lot of time talking to the characters in the book and using his imagination with the story. Since using them he is also telling time! I really like the flashcards. I love how they are interactive instead of just one dimensional. It really makes them more engaging which in turn lets my son learn faster and retain the knowledge!
Guess What? One Lucky Our Knight Life reader is going to win a full Schoolies set valued at nearly $60!

Does counting count as a subject? He loves to count, but doesn’t get the concept of adding and subtracting, unless him recounting whatever when you add one/take one away to see how many are left…
