When my first son was born I felt like even after he was tucked in safe and sound, I wasn’t getting anything accomplished because I was checking on him all the time. This was especially true once we transferred him into his own crib at night. Since I hadn’t invested in a video camera, I found myself constantly interrupted with the desire to go look at him. When he was a baby it was to see if he was still breathing, as a toddler it was to see if he was comfortable, and as he got older it was to see that he was still in his bed and not tearing up his room!
Imagine all I could have been doing had I not been obsessing over how my child was doing! Like sleeping! I can’t tell you how many times during the first year of his life I was up and sneaking into his room to make sure he was okay. Especially when he’d have a great night’s sleep – I couldn’t help by worry something was wrong.
Levana a company that only makes baby monitors wants parents to be able to have an eye on their baby while still being able to focus on what needs to get accomplished whether that is work, chores, or a good night’s sleep! I was excited to be able to review it and put it to the test!
The Levana Sophia has some really great features including:
48 Hour Battery Life in PEEP Mode: PEEP or Power On/Off Energy Efficient Picture means that you don’t have to worry about plugging in the monitor in the middle of the night. This mode sets your camera and monitor to ‘sleep’ when there is no movement in the nursery, and comes back to life at the smallest of sounds/movements. This will extend your battery life for 48 hours!
Temperature Monitoring to Ensure Comfort: The monitor comes with a temperature sensor so you can be sure that baby’s room is always at the ideal level for a comfortable sleep.
LED Volume Indicator: The LED volume indicator on the top of the monitor lets you see the level of sound in the nursery. It changes from yellow to red depending on baby’s level of crying. I love this feature when my son is napping and I am working. I don’t have to have the volume up on the monitor because I can see if there is noise instead.
Talk to Baby Two-Way Intercom: The Levana Sophia monitor allows you to calm baby down with the sound of your voice without having to enter baby’s nursery. I use this feature mainly to say an extra ‘I love you’ at the end of the night, or to let baby know I’m coming to get him if he wakes up really upset.
Gentle Nightlight: Controlled by the parent unit you can turn this gentle nightlight on or off depending on your baby’s needs.
Private ClearVu Digital Signal: ClearVu technology provides outstanding precision and clarity of a digital signal from up to 500ft away. Sophia has a private, secure and interference-free digital signal that no one but you can view.
Adjustable Brightness: Parents can increase or decrease the level of brightness on the monitor depending on their needs. For instance you can decrease the brightness when you are in a dark room.
Expandable up to 4 Cameras: As you family grows, the Levana Sophia grows with your family! You can add up to 4 additional cameras on to your system.
Look how clear that picture is!
While those are all amazing features I personally think the best feature of this video monitor is the price! At $79.99 you are getting a great video system that will give you peace of mind and allow you to accomplish more while baby is sleeping at a price that isn’t going to break the bank!
Additionally Levana is committed to baby safety. Not only do all monitors come with ClearVu technology that ensures no one by you can view, the monitors and cameras are digital and wireless. This eliminates the risk of cord accidents and accidental strangulation.
Momma! It’s time to get up now!

A good baby monitor brings a new level of peace of mind when you’re not in the same room as baby. It’s my staple baby shower gift for people in the family too.
