Safety 1st Celebrates 30 Years!
A little over a week ago at the ABC Kids Expo I had the amazing privilege of being a Twitter Correspondent for Dorel Juvenile, the maker of Safety 1st products. Safety 1st celebrated it’s diamond anniversary at the expo. 30 years ago Safety 1st launched the iconic Baby on Board sign… It’s likely that you have seen one, perhaps even owned one for your car.
This very recognizable diamond has hung in millions of cars in the past 30 years giving parents a way to let people know to take a little extra caution and remind all drivers to drive safely. 30 years later Safety 1st is known for much more than this little yellow sign. From strollers, to car seats, and baby proofing gear, parents know and trust the brand to help keep their little ones safe. I am one of those parents. When it came to a convertible car seat for our first son we turned to Safety 1st to keep our little one safe.
So I was excited to have the opportunity to celebrate the diamond anniversary with Safety 1st. During the event they had cupcakes and cake to celebrate with, and the President Paul Powers addressed the crowd to talk about the brand, and where they are going in the next several years.
“The commitment we made to parents 30 years ago is the foundation of everything we do today, and will do in the future. To partner with parents in safety and to provide parents with products that give them the confidence to lead happy, active lives with their children.” – Paul Powers
He shared that starting next year they will be releasing 1 million new Baby On Board signs complete with the Where’s Baby reminder which is part of the National Highway of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) “Where’s Baby? Look Before You Lock” campaign. The goal is to prevent any more awful heatstroke accidents that involve leaving children locked in hot cars.
The logo will be added to the sign in early 2015!
The party continued with fun picture taking opportunities, cake, and of course awesome baby gear!
They also handed out cubic zirconia earrings to all those in attendance and gave away one pair of 1/2 carat earrings to commemorate the occasion! I didn’t win, but I did have a great time and love the faux diamonds just the same!
I even got to meet Ali Landry who was attending the show for her site Favored.By. She really was just the sweetest ever! She commented how Baby D made her miss her sweet kiddos. She has 3 children her youngest being just over a year and she is pretty passionate about car seat safety.
We had so much fun at the party tweeting the #EveryoneOnBoard hashtag. Thank you for inviting us Safety 1st and thank you for your continued passion to quality, affordable, baby gear!
This post is sponsored by Safety 1st, but all opinions are honest and my own. We love safety 1st and their commitment to families.

How fun!!! I had to miss this event at ABC because of my cancelled flight 🙁 But I love the whole Dorel group of brands and products! I love the “where’s baby” reminder they’re going to do!
I had no idea they have been around for 30 years! What a fantastic company – we have so many of their products!
Wow, 30 years?!? It’s sad that I remember these signs coming out when I was a kid. It’s crazy that it’s been 30 years already. They’re a great company!
30 years? Wow! We’ve never used the Yellow Diamond. But we have a lot of Safety 1st items for “baby proofing”. I really like the Safety 1st brand. We’ve never had a problem with any of the products we use. I know we can depend in the Safety 1st brand to be reasonably priced and good quality!
I love Safety 1st! I know they have quality products I can trust to use with my kids! Happy 30 years!
How fun! All of our baby proofing in the home (gates, locks) are Safety 1st. I don’t trust the other brands/store brands when it comes to baby proofing and keeping them safe.
That looks like such a fun event! I love the sweet treats with their logo & hugely recognizable diamond shape. I appreciate the new inclusion of looking before you lock. We have to make our children’s safety our continued priority.
What a fun celebration. I’ve never had that sticker on my car but have seen it for years. I have had the car seats and other products, definitely a company I trust with my children.
I had that sticker when my babies were tiny- and saw them everywhere!
I think all of our safety items are from Safety First! They are the best!
I didn’t know they’d been around that long either. We’re starting to look at car seats, I’ll have to be sure to take a look at theirs.
How awesome to see them back it to 30 years. They definitely do a lot to help keep little ones safe. Here is to 30 more successful years!
What a great company with great products and what a fabulous event!
I didn’t realize Safety 1st had been around for 30 years! We had the yellow diamond on our car for our oldest, but didn’t get one for the baby. Their carseats look very comfortable these days too!
I need to get one of these signs for my SIL!
How fun! I wish I could have made it again this year! I need a new carseat for Sawyer and I really should look at these! My favorite seat for Gavin was an onBoard air from Safety 1st!
Safety 1st makes some awesome car seats. This looks like a fun event and it’s great to see trustworthy brands like this hitting milestones because they make such awesome products.
