Have you heard of Stitch Fix yet? It’s a personal styling/shopping service for clothing and a few months ago I decided to finally check it out. After three months of boxes I figured I had better share my Stitch Fix review!
How it Works:
- Sign up for a fix every month or every other month and agree to pay a $20 box/styling fee. (This will be credited to price of clothing if you keep something.
- Fill out the style profile, letter to your stylist letting them know what you need in your wardrobe(example a holiday party – a baby shower outfit…), and if you’d like create a pinterest board with some of your favorite looks.
- Schedule your fix.
- Wait for the little box of awesome to arrive on your doorstep.
- You have 3 business days to decide what to keep and what to send back (in the prepaid envelope they provide).
- If you keep nothing, you pay the $20 styling fee. If you keep 1-4 items the $20 is credited to the cost of the clothing. If you keep all 5 items you get 25% off all items!
Why I do Stitch Fix:
- I am a blogger I had seen other people’s fixes and saw how much they were enjoying the service.
- I am a mother of two young boys, working full time, and having my husband overseas – shopping time is VERY limited and often I can’t think straight with my boys whining, crying, playing, or being silly.
- I am finally starting to lose weight and the state of my closet is pretty sad. Lots of my “nice” stuff isn’t so nice anymore, and as much as I try to get away with it, yoga pants and cotton tops can only go so far. (When I started Stitch Fix I didn’t have a single pair of full length jeans that fit…)
My Review:
To date I have had 3 boxes arrive on my doorstep. I love that they come with a detailed description and style guide for all items. It’s nice to think outside the box and see how they outfits would work in other ways. My first box I kept a dress and a top. My second fix I kept a pair of grey corduroys that fit amazingly and were VERY comfortable. My third fix was a real winner. I kept it all.
Check out my video:
What I got this month:
This month like I mentioned I kept the whole box. It had so many awesome staples for my closet I decided with the buy 5 discount it was totally worth it!
{1} Kut From The Kloth – Denna Skinny Jean $78
Last month I got a pair of cords from this brand, and they fit me really well so I asked my stylist for denim from the same brand, and these didn’t disappoint! I love the way they fit and they have stretch so they are also very comfortable. I really hate low rise anything, and these aren’t that. They go just below my belly button. Status: KEPT
{2} Brixon Ivy – Adrian Plaid & Lace Blouse – $68
Okay full disclosure – I wouldn’t pay $68 for a blouse, BUT I really liked the contrast of the lace and the plaid. I liked the fit, the back is actually a cotton and the front a satiny material. I was undecided as to keep it or not, but when I realized I was going to keep my box this blouse actually was only $3 (after the 25% keep all discount I saved $65…) so it was a no brainer. Status: Kept.
{3} 41Hawthorn – Abrianna Long Sleeve Knit Cardigan – $48
I would not have kept this cardigan despite the fact that it is TOTALLY my style and my favorite color to wear. (The amount of navy in my closet is pretty crazy), but in the past month I had put holes in both of my favorite navy cardigans. This one was really comfortable and easy to wear. I had to say yes! Status: Kept.
{4} Pixley – Edmond Chevron Print Henley Shirt – $54
If I only had the ability to have kept one item from my box this month – this top would have been it. I have seen this one on other Stitch Fix reviews before, and I actually had it pinned to my board hoping it would make it’s way into my box. I LOVE how it fit, and the pattern is super forgiving. It is a cotton blend so it’s also crazy comfortable. I love it! Status: Kept. Obviously!
{5} Look By M – Jet Ribbed Infinity Scarf -$32
Okay, so while $32 is a bit pricy for a scarf in my book, my stylist specifically mentioned she noticed it was cooling off in Las Vegas and thought I might like this to keep warm. She was right. It is starting to get a bit chilly and this was such a great neutral I liked that I could pretty much use it with everything. Not to mention it was REALLY soft. I also went a little scarf pinning crazy on my boards so I was pretty happy with this one. Status: Kept.
So that was my box. The items retail cost a total of $280. (OUCH!). But with the $20 styling credit, the 25% buy 5 discount, I only paid $195. Merry Christmas to me! I kept the whole box because I felt like each item was able to be worn in several different ways, and were all great staples to build my wardrobe. I certainly don’t think I will be keeping every box as I simply can’t afford to spend $200 a month on clothing, but I like that I can get a few quality items each month sent to my door and I can try them on in my home, with my mirror, and without the boys needing my full attention. Stitch Fix works for me. After January I’m likely going to switch to every other month – maybe…
A few more things…
It should also be mentioned if you find a lower price on any of the items they will match it. I have heard (but not experienced) from other Stitch Fixers that if they had months where their stylist just didn’t get anything right at all they have had their $20 fee waved as well. I have also been told their customer service is pretty amazing. I haven’t had to use them yet, but that is good to know.
I’m holding out hope that one day they will add in fitness attire and shoes. Because then I’d never leave my house to shop again! (Okay – that’s a lie, but a girl can dream!)
Do you Stitch Fix?
Feel free to use my affiliate link to sign up. I will get credit towards future boxes if you do. If you liked any of my items this month feel free to pin them and maybe they will end up in your future stitch fix box.

I do use Stitch Fix and have never kept an entire box but have gotten some cute items. That chevron shirt is adorable.
Emily says
Thank you Shannan. The Chevron was by far my favorite piece to date!

I’ve never Stitch Fix-ed… But I think I might have to try once in the new year, I am just so not a clothing person, however I know I KIND OF need to…. I cannot exactly wear yoga clothing ALL THE TIME, especially in the field I work in, LOL!
Emily says
This is exactly why I did it. More professional appearance and such.
Jessica Naca says
I would like to try this! Just wondering if these items wash well and hold together well after some wear.

So far I have been VERY happy. I imagine if you ever did run into a problem you could email customer service, but it’s been around for a couple of years so fingers crossed that is a good sign. I certainly couldn’t afford to pay these prices and not have it last. 🙂

Wow such great clothes! I love that chevron top! Can you buy these clothes in any stores? I wonder… The jeans look fab on you!! I *MAY* just have to use your link and try it out!!
Emily says
You are so sweet to say so. Some of the clothing you can find in other locations (which is why I always recommend doing a google search for a better price), but several are their brands. The Chevron top and cardigan for example…
Kerri says
I have not tried yet, but all your outfits look great. As a mom of 3, this could be a great way to stay in style.

I Love the clothes, I think you look great but as a whole I feel women are ripped off. My husband has been looking at something similar. For $65 he gets a Handsome make over. You’re talking about paying $20 plus whatever you keep. I wish there was flat rate fashion!
Emily says
I can see how some would see this as too expensive. But the $20 gets credited to the stuff you keep so it’s not $20 plus what I keep it’s only $20 if I choose to keep nothing. Mens clothing is often less expensive. It certainly would be nice if there was a less expensive version of this box.

I can see how some of the retail prices might have sticker shock, but your reasoning is very sound- paying for a personal stylist alone can run over $200 for a session, so you really got a great deal. I love that the stylist even considered the weather where you were!
Melissa says
I love it all! I don’t believe they do my size but I can’t wait to try it out sometime.

that looks like an awesome box. I haven’t heard of this one before but I’ll be checking it out. I love that scarf!

You look so gorgeous in all of those! I absolutely adore the chevron patterned shirt!

I really love this idea and can see how it would be so helpful to people pressed for time! I love the outfits you created with your new items, you look fantastic!

You look amazing in all of the pieces. I can see why you kept them all!
Jennifer says
You look amazing. I love all of these looks, but I REALLY love the scarf!
Tammilee Tips says
I love your Chevron top! That is just my style. I hate going to the store for clothing shopping.
Brandy says
I have heard of this, many of my FB friends get this and share with us. I love the idea, and will have to look further into it. What a beautiful outfit you have on!

I love Stitch Fix! I just did my second box; I’ve only kept one item from each box so far, but that’s enough for me to keep doing this each month. It’s a fun surprise and I have loved seeing pieces that are “me” but are different from what I might initially gravitate toward in a store.
Marie says
The chevron blouse looks great on you. I got the same one and kept it too. Also love the jeans! you look great!
Emily says
Thank you Marie! I appreciate that! Glad you liked the blouse too!
Nancy says
Love the chevron print and it’s good to hear that they would waive the styling fee if they didn’t get anything right. Does anyone know if they go beyond size 14 yet? I would love to get a gift card for my friend, but I fear she would be limited to accessories.
