LILLEbaby Essentials Baby Carrier Review + LILLEbaby Carrier Comparison Chart!

I am so excited to announce that is expanding their carrier line! Today they announced not only a new print, but also a completely NEW carrier – the LILLEbaby Essentials carrier.  As a LILLEbaby ambassador I have had the amazing opportunity to review this carrier, use it, wear it, and fall in love with it before it was released today!

Wait a minute. Let me back track a second so you know why this is so exciting. Falling in love with LILLEbaby carriers only took one wear for me, but it’s a love that has grown to include several of their carriers.

LILLEbaby started with one carrier – The LILLEbaby COMPLETE. This carrier comes in 5 main styles: Original, Organic, Airflow, All-Seasons, and Embossed. To give you an idea of how much I love this company, I own all 5 COMPLETE styles. With-in these 5 styles there are also different colors and prints that you can choose from. This year they collaborated with Tokidoki to create 2 prints. For me the COMPLETE was the carrier than made me love my over any other SSC I have owned or reviewed in the past. It’s just a quality carrier with 6 carrying positions that is made to work with a really wide variety of babywearing parents. If you forced me to narrow down my babywearing stash to only one carrier – the COMPLETE would be it for me. 7-45 lbs really means that I can wear my child from birth all the way through toddlerhood. My son is almost 3 and still fits in this carrier and it is still comfortable for me to wear.

They also created a toddler version called the . The CarryOn comes in the airflow original styles. These also come in a few colors, and prints. It’s a carrier designed to work for toddlers 20-60 lbs. Yes 60 pounds. If you let me keep 2 of my carriers this would be my 2nd choice. Even though my toddler still fits in his COMPLETE, the CarryOn distributes his weight a little bit better. I have a friend with a 5 year old who has special needs and this carrier was an answer to her prayers.

But LILLEbaby didn’t want to stop there. One of the things I love MOST about this company is that they really listen to their customer base. They heard people asking for a more affordable carrier, and after hitting the design table – I think they hit it out of the park with the all new LILLEbaby Essentials.  The Essentials carrier was specifically designed to fill the need for a simplified more traditional soft structured baby carrier at a lower price point.

The comes in at $89.99, and while it has some design differences from the COMPLETE to make it a more budget friendly carrier – it really doesn’t feel like it. The Essentials really stands on its own. It’s designed to be worn from 15-45lbs (you can start wearing baby at 7 lbs with the use of the LILLEbaby infant insert which will be available in January 2016), and worn in 4 wearing positions. (Infant with insert, Front, Back, and Hip).

My son is wearing the – He LOVES it!

Similar to the CarryOn there is no neck-support like the COMPLETE, but it does have 3-way adjusting straps including the Perfect Fit Adjusters that allows the panel to grow with your child.

The does not come with the signature Lumbar support that LILLEbaby is known for, but you will also be able to purchase one separately.

In order to create a budget-friendly baby carrier there are a few other things that they did with this design. The hood is not removable from the carrier like the COMPLETE or CarryOn, and attaches with plastic hook/loop hardware as opposed to the metal snaps you find on the COMPLETE and CarryOn. The hood is also made of mesh lined with the cotton canvas which allows it to easily stow away in the front pocket of the carrier.

We put this carrier to good use in our home over the past few weeks. We took it out to the store, walked around our neighborhood, and even to the park, and we really found even more #LILLElove. This carrier is perfect for the parent that doesn’t have over $100 dollars to spend on a carrier, but also wants something they will be able to love and use as their child grows. The support and the comfort for baby are all still included in this carrier. Plus the Chevron print is gender neutral and so much fun. The color palette fits perfectly with any other LILLEbaby carrier too!

For me this will become my 3rd carrier. My “extra” carrier if you will. Perfect for traveling, places we know might be a little bit messy and I don’t want to risk getting my embossed or my Iconic Carry On dirty (even though they wash amazingly well, it’s just a thing of mine). The Essentials carrier will likely live in my car as the carrier I reach for when we are running errands or need a quick up. It also folds really compactly making it perfect for as an on -the-go – essential traveling carrier.

Side Note: Clearly I don’t have a “baby” anymore, so all my testing was done with a toddler. I would personally say that my toddler is on the higher end of comfort in this carrier without the use of the lumbar support. He’s 37” and 34lbs so he mostly likes to ride on my back, but if this were my only carrier I’d likely have purchased the lumbar support after the age of 2.

Love this review for the @Lillebaby Essentials baby carrier! #ShowMeChevron

I like the Chevron print; will they be coming out with more colors/patterns? I am a fan of the zippered pouch on front of the carrier. Great to throw keys or a wallet in when out for a walk or to the park! What a nice carrier!

Honestly, I love the fit of lillebaby. But the version I had did not have a pocket for the hood nor was it detachable and that drove me nutty. I think I would love this version seeing as it has a pocket!

I always felt like the complete was trying to do too many things at once and it just completely missed the mark in the process. However I’m so excited about the essential! Great price point, good panel size, pfa’s, no headrest (which I’ve always disliked on the complete), and the hood is attached. It looks like a great carrier!

Thanks for the great review. I would love to try one of these now. I think it’s amazing that LILLEbaby came up with a more affordable option for their customers. I love that it can carry up to the same weight limit as the Complete and 3-way adjustable straps like the CarryOn. I’m not sure with the price being so affordable if it would be possible, but I would love to see other prints in the future. Though I do love the cute gender neutral fabric they chose for this. I definitely would love to get one for my baby boy because I know we could get so much use out of it.
