Belli Pregnancy Skin Care Review & Giveaway (US/CAN)

July 8, 2012 By Emily 16 Comments

I really love being pregnant, but there are a few things about it that I am not a fan of.  First and foremost is the terrible acne I get.  I am not super pimple prone, so when my face really started to break out with my first pregnancy it was pretty upsetting.  What’s worse is it wasn’t just my face, but my shoulders, upper back, and chest that also got the spots and dots.

I wanted to feel like I was “glowing”, but instead I felt like I had to hide my face behind a ton of cover-up, which really only made it worse.  I asked my Obstetrician what I could use on my face and was surprised to find out that she didn’t recommend any of the over the counter medications like Benzyl peroxide or Salicylic acid due to the fact that the skin absorbs those chemicals into the bloodstream.

So I endured and dealt with my spotty issue for the rest of my pregnancy.  Thankfully when I found out I was expecting my second child, I had heard of a wonderful company called Belli made just for pregnancy and baby.

About Belli

Giving birth to your baby is so much more than a physical act. It’s a life-altering experience, full of emotion, beauty and meaning. For expectant and new mothers, it’s also a time of uncertainty, with a changing body, unique skin care issues, a new baby to care for, and heightened safety concerns.
At Belli, we support expectant and new mothers through this changing time by providing soothing, balanced skin products that pamper and protect. Our collections – Belli Pregnancy, Belli Motherhood and Belli Baby – address the specific needs of each stage, with thoughtful attention to the safest formulations.
Belli Pregnancy has set a higher standard for prenatal safety, as the only skin care line in the world that is teratology screened. We search through over 16 million medical research articles in over 5000 international journals, and use this information to exclude ingredients with even remote links to birth defects or other problems with pregnancy. Belli Motherhood is LactMed screened to avoid ingredients linked to harmful effects during breastfeeding. Belli Baby is screened for xenoestrogens—chemicals which can act like hormones that interfere with normal development of the reproductive system. So no matter which Belli products you use, you can have peace of mind erring on the side of caution.

I was really excited to give this product a chance, especially as my skin was already starting to look like that a teenager going through puberty again. (Darn those hormones!)

Belli graciously sent me it’s two most popular acne treatments. The Complexion Protection Duo (which includes an acne cleansing facial wash and a anti-chloasma facial sunscreen SPF 25.), and the Acne Control Spot Treatment.

My Review

"Belli Skin Care" "Acne Skin Care for Pregnant Women" "Skin Care for Pregnancy"

I love LOVE love my Belli skin care products.  My skin is much less affected by acne now that I have been using the wash regularly for a month.  Also the spot treatment is AMAZING! I can see a difference in big pimples within a day of using it. My skin feels so refreshed and clean.  With other acne washes and treatments I was prone to drying out.  This is not the case with Belli.  I am also at peace knowing I can use this very safely during my pregnancy.

The Sunscreen is also a great product.  I love that this product prevents chloasma which 70% of pregnant women suffer from, and are more likely to be affected by when exposed to lots of sun. However, I personally would have preferred it to not be tinted, but I can see why many women would love a bit of coverage to even out their skin.  For my in the Las Vegas extreme heat sometimes I can feel a little dewy with this on.  I have always preferred a matted look to my skin.  With that said, I’ll take dewy over dark brown permanent spots any day!

Belli also offers products for motherhood and baby.  I’d love to try some of these products as well.  I know they would be high quality products just like their acne care.

I don’t know a mom out there who wouldn’t love some Eye Brightening Cream to help fight that tired look!

Calm Me and Nourish Me Baby Bath Set sounds pretty delightful to me! I bet they will make your baby smell even more delicious if that is even possible!
