Staying in School Mode over the Summer with School Zone Workbooks

July 20, 2013 By Emily 11 Comments

This past year was my son’s first year of preschool.  I noticed a remarkable difference in his desire to learn and practice his letters.  He is such an active and on the go little boy getting him to sit and color or do a worksheet was always a challenge.  Now that he’s been to school he actually likes to sit down and practice.  I decided to take full advantage of that this summer and we have been using School Zone workbooks to help!  We received two workbooks to check out from School Zone, and I was so impressed with them I wanted to share them.

These books are colorful, fun, and affordable!  Many starting at just $3.99 I am happy to sit down and work with my son and he is excited too!  His favorite is the Preschool Scholar and we are just starting Printing Fun!

Preschool Scholar: Ages 3-5

Preschool Scholar sharpens skills by engaging your child’s natural love of learning. Each full-color page features a fun farm theme and introduces a lively selection of reading readiness, early math, and beginning science skills. Each activity is supplemented with hands-on ideas and jokes.

Skill Areas Included:

  • Reading Readiness
  • Early Math
  • Beginning Science

Printing Fun: Ages 4-6

Trace the letters and learn to print! Imagine your child clearly printing for hours! With this Write & Reuse workbook, it will happen. Printing fun guides the development of legible handwriting with easy-to-follow instruction and practice exercises. These erasable pages include the proper starting points for each letter stroke, plus playful illustrations and entertaining activities to help make printing fun.  With School Zone’s Write & Reuse books, your child can practice activities over and over.

Skill Areas Include:

  • Eye-hand coordination
  • Fine motor skills
  • Alphabet
  • Spelling
  • Beginning sounds

Both my son and I enjoy these workbooks. They are fun and engaging for him, and easy for me to use.  I like knowing that I am supplementing and reinforcing what he is learning at school while he is home for the summer.  I liked them so much I plan on picking up a few new ones for the month of August and again for his new school year.

School Zone has workbooks, flashcards, and, activity books, and apps for kids aged preschool all the way through grade 6.  The colors are bright and make learning fun.  The prices allow us to buy several different workbooks so he can pick the one he is wanting to do.  My hope is as long as we can make learning fun he will always be excited about doing it!

Thanks for sharing this Emily. I’m going to keep this in mind for when the Little is a tad older. Right now he still eats paper. Gah.
