Toddler Talk Thursdays {Week 28 – Toddler Bed}

February 23, 2011 By Emily 9 Comments

Welcome to Week 28 of Toddler Talk Thursday!  Where Family and Life in Las Vegas, Crazy about my Baybah, and My Life as a Sippy Cup Mom talk all things TODDLER!!

Toddler Talk Thursday was created as a place for moms and dads of toddlers to come together over a weekly topic and share ideas, go-to toys, or products. It is a great way to meet other bloggers of toddlers. Each week the topic will be different; we invite you to link up, share your weekly Toddler Talk!!

Each week the hosts will travel around to each blog that links up, and pick an idea, story, or picture they think was a great example of that weeks topic. In order to qualify for this you need to blog about this week’s topic, and follow the hosts. Comments letting us know you are participating are always great too. If we choose your blog, we will link back to your post the following week.

Our highlighted blog this week is:

Not Quite Susie!

We love the picture of you and your little guy!

This week’s topic is :
Have you put your toddler into a bed yet? Share tips/tricks!

My answer to this will be quick and simple.  I have not moved my son into a toddler bed yet.  I don’t plan on it anytime soon.

We have had the “move to the big boy bed” conversation with my hubs, but like everything else that starts with Big Boy, I tell him “If my baby is a big boy now, then you need to give me another baby!”  LOL!!

Here is the thing, I don’t want to move him to a toddler bed, until I feel like he isn’t going to go on a midnight drive while I am sleeping.  (Yes, my son has already un-bolted the front door, and opened it up to walk out…) Or at least I feel like he won’t fall into the toilet and drown in the middle of the night. – Yes, I really do have these fears.  Or dig thru the trash, or eat laundry detergent, or climb on top of the entertainment center… (and yes, if given enough time, he can open out gates.  And I struggle to open those…)

So clearly, we aren’t ready yet. But I really am looking forward to reading your tips, so when the time is right I will be ready.

Oh, and I am pretty bummed we bought a crib that will transfer over to a toddler bed, day-bed, then finally a full bed.  It saves us money for sure, but how fun would it be to be able to give my son this pirate ship boat.

    I have not written a post about this topic but our transition to a toddler bed was relatively easy. We got the toddler bed and left it in her room next to the crib. She slept in it the first night. She continued to want to sleep in the crib for nap for a week but then we took it down. There was no option then and she did just fine.

    I am getting an error message when I try the reply button. Audrey received the toddler bed as a 2 year birthday present. I might have waited a little longer but her father said she was ready. We also had an almost 6 month old waiting for the crib. When we took the crib down it went up immediately in our room for the baby.
