Everyday when I make my son’s meals, I am constantly trying to find a fun healthy balance. Did he have enough Veggies today? (He always has enough fruit, there hasn’t been a fruit he has turned down yet!) Did he get enough protein? Does he have a healthy amount of fat in his meals? He liked carrots yesterday, but refused them today…Honestly, I have gotten lucky with a baby who will eat almost anything. He loves Broccoli (or Trees), he enjoys spinach, he likes raw and steamed carrots, he loves sweet potatoes, he will eat asparagus. For now. I think he eats them because I eat them. I have always enjoyed veggies. Even at an early age. I just hope I can keep his interest in eating healthy.
That’s why I am super excited to have the opportunity to review Super Sprowtz.
I (Rahda Agrawal) founded this company – with these fun and engaging veggie superhero characters – because I passionately believe moms need better tools to help their young children build honest and healthy relationships with healthy food. My full bio is online, but a quick overview — my background includes: fitness instructor, organic restaurateur in New York City (I own 2 organic restaurants with my twin sister), film and TV producer for 10 years, and lifelong food enthusiast.
I have just launched the first Super Sprowtz book series with more products coming soon. The Super Sprowtz characters each have a super power, based on their nutritional content. For example, Colby Carrot has Super Sight and Brian Broccoli is Super Strong. Kids follow these characters on fun, action-packed journeys that entertain – AND educate. I have spent hundreds of hours with moms, kids, educators and nutritionists — reading, playing with the characters, and talking about food. The response has been amazing – kids developed new interest in healthy vegetables, and moms no longer had to hide veggies in other foods.
We had the opportunity to review Brian Broccoli is Super Strong. What I like about it is that there are many different parts to the book. Which is great when you have a younger toddler like mine who’s attention span is limited. He will let me read a bit, and then he wants to read a bit. Check out this video I took of me reading it to Squishy.
He actually said BrocBroc, and now after reading this book, he made the connection to it so that when I give him Broccoli he says BrocBroc!
There are even recipes and biographies of characters. And the “villains” are great!
We have a blast reading this story, even if my son only has the attention span to sit for a little. I still know he is getting it! The idea to turn veggies into superheros is a wonderful way to start your child out on the right eating path.
I will definitely be purchasing some of their dvds and more books for my son. I love the concept, and it really came to life perfectly. Toddlers and Preschoolers will love reading, watching, participating, and eating about their favorite vegetables.
We give Super Sprowtz an Extra Squishable on the Squishy Rating Scale.
