“A new baby is like the beginning of all things – wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities.” – Eda J. Le Shan
It can also be the beginning of the great bank account drain. It is no great secret that having a baby costs money. What was surprising to me was how much money it would cost.
I remember after we found out we were pregnant with our son, I read somewhere that baby’s first year would cost somewhere around $5000 for those who don’t use child care, and near $8000 for those who do.
(I am pretty sure my husband started to have a panic attack at that point.)
I also vividly remember looking back on our first year with our son and knowing exactly what ended up being a waste of money, and what was worth every single penny spent.
I thought this graphic from Baby Authority was fun and I wanted to share it with you.
