It’s that time of the year again, right as spring kicks in. It’s that time of year when bunnies and rabbits become simultaneously exciting and creepy and when candy and sweets flow like the sequel to Halloween and family time rivals Christmas day. Like all holidays, Easter is full of magical and stressful moments. Here are a few tips for making the day a special one:
Make it a family event—Whether you celebrate Easter religiously or not, spend the day as a family and make it memorable. Easter is one of those rare days of the year when families can count on some quality time together. Have some fun professional Easter portraits done, make your own custom-made colorful Easter eggs, sculpt your own chocolate bunnies. Make it a day of creative family fun!
Don’t get too sneaky with the Easter egg hunt—Yes, you want to make it fun, but you don’t want to hide the eggs so well that the kids don’t ever find them and start crying. Toddlers aren’t part of the Special Ops and don’t have access to laser scanners—no need to hide the eggs underneath a bird’s nest on the roof. Also be sure to do separate hunts for older kids and younger kids. Nothing breeds hurt feelings quicker than an older kid stealing all of the thunder.
Don’t overdue the sweets—Like Halloween, Easter is a day that traditionally entails a great deal of candy and chocolate consumption. Unless you want a family mutiny on your hands there’s virtually no way around this. But you can reduce the amount consumed. And you can definitely insist that everyone brushes their teeth several times that day. No need to let that sugar eat away at the enamel all day.
Soon it’s time to start stocking up on Easter candy, bunny icons, and egg designs. Make this Easter a memorable day, full of loving family moments, a reasonable amount of sweets, and plenty of creative Easter eggs.

Great tips! Especially the part about not hiding the eggs too hard!
You’ve got some great ideas.
You’re so right about the eggs. I made it pretty obvious for them at the toddler stage too. 🙂
Great tips! Thanks for sharing!
Excellent points!!!
Thanks for these tips, the kids will definitely enjoy their Easter egg hunt this year. I’m planning on baking some goodies so that they have something to munch on after the activity.
I love the one about not getting too sneaky with the eggs. We usually find a few months later – not as much fun then!!
