As I approach 8 weeks left until my due date I have become bitten by the bug also known as pregnancy nesting. One of the first things I have done is pull out the box of newborn clothes to see what I have for this little baby! I say newborn clothes, but really I didn’t own anything in a newborn size except for a few outfits. Call it mother’s intuition, or the fact that I was seriously as big as a house at 36 weeks pregnant, but I just new that I wasn’t going to have a small baby.
(36 weeks)
When my son was born 10lbs 2 ozs two weeks early, my mother’s intuition proved to be true, and that initial cute coming home newborn outfit was quickly changed to a basic onesie.
(Daddy showing off Squishy’s first outfit!)
I paired the striped onesie with a sweet hat that matched, and booties I bought with my mother. It was simple, but perfect. That outfit held the promise of all the dreams I wished for my son, and all the memories we were ready to make as a family.
(Sleeping on Daddy’s tummy!)
The onesie was a 0-3 month outfit, as he clearly wasn’t going to fit into anything newborn. It was also my first lesson in baby clothes running small. I don’t think he fit into 0-3 clothes for longer that 4-6 weeks.
I remember crying when I packed up those clothes. As my mother explained to me, motherhood was going to be filled with root and wings moments, but who knew the simple act of packing away my baby’s clothes would be one of those moments that I would never forget.
One of the things I remember so clearly about that first box as I packed it up with tiny little clothes was the scent of Dreft Laundry detergent. To me, it just smelled like new baby and new beginnings.
When I unpacked that box recently, the smell was still there. Those memories I made with first son in tiny little outfits were all there as perfect as the day I packed them away. Only now, I will have a second chance to make memories with my second son.
Well, all except for that simple striped onesie, matching hat, and knit booties. A magical family memory and a million dreams all saved in one tiny little outfit. To be kept tucked away safe only to be worn that first day home from the hospital.
Whether you’re a first timer or the greatest, grandest mother of them all, there’s on thing moms have agreed on for over 75 years- Dreft makes your little one’s fabric feel as clean and soft as can be.
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Dreft. As a part of this program I received the product, the opinions and text are all mine.

How cute! I love his outfit!
Awesome outfit, I love baby clothes 🙂
The little hats really do me in. I’m trying to learn to knit just for the hats!
