If you are looking for an affordable way to cloth diaper you baby, you should definitely check out GlowBug Cloth Diapers. Before I had Baby D, I started researching different cloth diapers. I asked around and several people mentioned GlowBug Cloth Diapers for their affordability and cute prints!
Just before Baby D arrived I was super excited to receive some fluffy mail from GlowBug. It was a great chance to get to check out all the features I had been hearing about.
GlowBug Cloth Diaper Features:
- Double rows of snaps with square tabs for a trim fit through the hip.
- Two sets of cross-over snaps through the waist band for a perfect fit around newborn tummies.
- (One of my personal favorite features of this diaper) Double gusset through the leg for an extra barrier of protection from leaks!
- Wing snaps on top row to prevent drooping (not available in Spectrum Packages)
- Four size settings fitting babies from birth through potty training (7lbs-35lbs).
- NEW SlimDry™ fabric keeps baby’s skin dry without the bulk.
- Improved waterproof flaps in the front and the back of each diaper to prevent leaks.
- (My second favorite feature) Two openings in the pocket makes it easier to get the absorbent inset in and out.
- The Inserts snap to the diaper and to each other making it easy to get good coverage with your diaper, and also making it easy to stuff.
Our Review:
While they are rated for babies starting at 7lbs I felt I wasn’t able to get a great fit on my little guy until he was closer to 11lbs. I think mostly it was because he had such long and skinny legs. As soon as we got them to fit properly I was impressed by how easy they were to use. I have to say that the Double Gusset is by far my favorite feature! Especially with the newborn runny poop! We haven’t had any poop leaks while wearing our Glowbugs.
Baby D at 4 weeks old (approximately 11lbs)
Baby D at 3 months old (approximately 15.5 lbs)
We have had a few potty leaks. Mostly because Baby D is such a heavy wetter. Once we added a second insert we were fine. The inserts that come with the diaper are microfiber and can snap together. They are very thin, and maybe that is why they work better with two for us.
I really like that the inserts can be pulled out from either end. This saves me having to touch any poop at all.
I think the best feature of this diaper is the price. You can cloth diaper your child full time with 24 diapers for $300. If you just wanted to add to a stash or part-time cloth diaper your baby you can get 12 diapers for $150. 12 Diapers come with 18 inserts. That is only $12.50 a diaper!

What a cute little guy. I wish I had diapers with sizing like that when my little girl and little guy were in diapers, but we are at the end. How handy. Love your rating system.
So cute! Cloth diapers are such a great alternative to the traditional disposable and more cost effective to. Love your rating system, makes it nice and concise.
He is such a cutie! Thanks for sharing the info about sizing.
He’s so adorable! And thanks for such a thorough review.
He’s so cute! 🙂 We’ve dabbled in cloth diapers and I love finding new affordable options. Thanks for a great review! 🙂
Ooooh you have a cutie there! I love the prints on the diaper covers!
Thanks for the review! Glad to know the double gussets are great for newborn poop.
Cute baby! I really wish we could buy these diapers individually.
Thanks for the review! Good tip about the double leg gussets – I’ll start looking for that when choosing fluff!
I love that you grade the diaper and features. thts very helpful to break it down like that. the GB prints are adorable!
I love Glow Bug diapers and I haven’t even used them yet. I just wished they sold them individually.
I love that the inserts snap to the diaper! It seems they would stay in place well that way!
I have yet to see a OS diaper that will actually fit a true newborn especially the ones on the smaller side! I like that the inserts snap in – they are less likely to shift around!
I absolutely love the prints!! 🙂
Thanks for that info! I have read a couple different Glow Bug reviews and didn’t realize that they had 2 openings!
gotta try Glowbug! Thanks for the review!
I’m not crazy about not being able to buy individual diapers, but I learned today that they are redesigning their diapers and clearancing out the old style and selling them individually until they run out!
I just love their cute prints! They are much more affordable than other options out there. Thanks a ton for the review!
I really like that print. Thanks for including pictures of how they fit on little ones!
The double gussets look amazing!
Thank you for this review! And the picture of the diaper “growing” with your baby!!
Loved the review, had been thinking of buying some glow bugs to try, you have convinced me 🙂
These are super cute.
I love the prints they have (that gears one on your LO is adorable!). I only wish you could buy singles. I don’t need 12 diapers, but I’d love to pick up one or two of the new prints.
These are on the top of my list to try! (once the baby gets here!)
I am so excited to start cloth diapering!
So excited to have found you. Your pattern diapers look classy unlike many and they are just the kind I’m buying for my first go at this cloth diaper thing. We are having our first baby in August and are collecting diapers for sure. I’d love to have one of these to try out in our attempt to find the best fit for our family.
Love the adorable prints, they look like they hold really really well.
I love the prints and the double gussets on these diapers very cute model
I really want to order a pack of these! I wonder about longevity on these but I adore the prints and the double gusset.
thanks for this review. I never even heard of these diapers before, especially as I am now starting to prepare for my first little one. I really like the fact that they are much more affordable than the more popular brands, and seem to even have the same fitting issues some Moms have spoken about in regards to the more expensive ones. Great review.
Thanks for reviewing this diaper and grading all of the features!
Your review has given me great information about the GlowBug Diaper. I am just starting to get some cloth diapers.
i love the fact that these come with extra inserts
I definitely love the price. We are always trying to save money in every way we can.
The price is so great. and their prints look really good! not just boring-ugly prints.
Thanks for the Review!
Their package deals seem very affordable, and I love that these are designed to work even for newborns!
LOVE all the cute prints for these diapers!
I new to the cloth diapering world and wanted to know after having your glow bug diapers after some time do you still rate them as high? I have seen so many negative reviews on this particular brand of cloth diaper and I don’t want to spend the money if they are not going to hold up. You know the old saying, “you get what you paid for.” I don’t want to spend 150 dollars for a stash of diapers that don’t work. So please be honest, anyone, I really want to know your thoughts on this.
They are okay diapers. If you only have $150 to spend and you want a full stash it’s not a bad diaper. However I think there are better options out there. I like the Buttons Diapers system, and I have heard wonderful things about Best Bottom diapers (both have same concept). Also I never bought anymore of these because they are microfiber and we discovered Baby D does better with natural fibers like cotton, hemp, and bamboo. Does that help?
