Phil&Teds is a big name in the juvenile product industry that is mostly recognized for their innovative strollers. Their motto is “adapt&survive” and they create products for parents that want baby gear that will adapt to their busy and fun lifestyle.
Having been in the industry for 18 years now, they are pretty good at giving parents products the mobility and ease they crave all while maintaining a very high level of safety.
Recently Phil&Teds launched a new stroller called the Smart Lux and from the moment I saw it, I knew it was going to be a great stroller.
While it appears similar in style to other strollers there are many features that make this stroller stand out from the rest. I have been using this stroller for a few months now, and I have to tell you, I have been reaching for it a lot. The Phil&Teds Smart Lux found a way to give parents the style and function of a big stroller all while being very compact and easy to use!

Check Out My Video Review:
One of the things that caught my attention with this stroller is the fact that it can be used for newborns all the way up to preschool! A lot of strollers claim to do that, but the only way you can use them with a newborn is by using a car seat attachment, or buying a separate bassinet. When my second son was born I bought a stroller like this. My biggest complaint about it was that I wanted to just put the baby in the seat, not the car seat and not a bassinet. While the Smart Lux is compatible with several types of car seats to become a travel system, and you can buy the additional bassinet, you can also switch the stroller to lie-flat mode and use it from they day baby is born.
The stroller came almost fully assembled. It only took me 5 minutes to put it all together, and I didn’t need a single tool to do it.
I shared all my favorite features in the video above, so I thought I’d share why this stroller worked for my family and why it has become one of the strollers I reach for most!
The front wheels have suspension and the back wheels are air filled. This allows even such a small compact stroller to maneuver along rougher surfaces like rocks, gravel, and grass.
The complete recline allows baby to get a nap no matter where we are.
This has been very helpful with an older child who has things scheduled during times my baby would normally nap. In other strollers with a lesser reclining seat he’s often unable to catch a nap. This is never the case with our Smart Lux. In fact recently we spent several weeks in the hospital for testing. He wouldn’t sleep in a pack and play, and he wouldn’t sleep in a hospital bed, but he did sleep very easily in the Smart Lux stroller.
I also love that it’s super easy to switch between recline positions. It allows baby to have his bottle, nap, and then be back up and on the look out with minimal effort on my part.
I love the choice of parent facing or forward facing the seat. It’s super easy to switch too!
We’ve been on many adventures with this stroller.
I love the under stroller basket storage space, and the compact fold is AMAZING! It does have a bit of a learning curve to get used to, but once you do folding is very easy.
I’m super impressed that Phil&Teds was able to design a compact stroller that travels easily, maneuvers very well, and has everything you’d want for a daily use stroller in a small size.
I had very few complaints about this stroller. The few things things that I did find that I didn’t love were the fact that the handle bar wasn’t adjustable, and that the stroller including seat are only able to be wiped clean. It would be nice to be able to remove the padding and machine wash it.
My Final Thoughts:
If you are looking for an everyday stroller that has all the luxury features of bigger strollers in a smaller size the Phil&Teds Smart Lux is for you. I actually bought a stroller that is similar in style, but after using the Phil&Teds I want to sell it. The Smart Lux has everything that bigger stroller does in a smaller frame. The full recline, and lie-back feature for me were top selling points. This stroller is so easy to push even my almost 5 yo loves to help push his brother. The $399 price point is perfect for this stroller. It has all the features it’s higher priced competitors have, and many it’s similarly priced ones don’t. This stroller will go from birth to 4 years and I personally believe will last through many children. I’m often asked for stroller recommendations. This is in my top 3 for single rider options.
