I was asked by Dove and Walgreens to share what I thought beauty is. Immediately a few thoughts came to my mind…
- Skin Deep
- In the Eyes of the Beholder
- Finding Your Strong
- Love
I thought I could share a picture of me with my boys, or maybe one of me post workout. But they didn’t feel right. You see as moms I think we set ourselves up to fail. That’s right. To FAIL. I know that for me, I thought I had to be perfect in every moment, and at every turn. The problem with that is perfection isn’t attainable. Life isn’t meant to be lived perfectly.
What if instead of trying to be the perfect mom, the perfect wife, have the perfect home, and the perfect life we tried to live life in the moment. If we just did the best we could each day instead of trying for perfection I think we’d all find that beauty is everywhere.
#BeautyIs EVERYWHERE!
Beauty Is…
The run we found time for the other day…
The extra snuggles you got together because they do grow up way too quickly!
Remembering that he doesn’t know that you forgot the team pictures, or why you’re upset that you are running late, but they beauty is that he loved the extra time he got to spend together just the two of you.
A Beautfull lap and a full heart!
The next time you are feeling overwhelmed and run down by life, take a moment to remember that life it’s about perfection, but rather being present you will likely find that Beauty is everywhere. Including the smile on your own face!

I’ve said this many times on my blog. As a mom or maybe as a woman I think we all do this. We try to be better than everybody else or try to be like everyone. If we aren’t that perfect cookie cutter person we think we are suppose to be we a horrible. I always thought I could be the “leave it to beaver mom” the one that always had a meal on the table for her husband, the super clean home, clothes folded, floor looks like you could lick it (please don’t), snacks (cookies freshly baked) at the table waiting for the kids when they got home. But I wasn’t, instead I am me and the amazing thing is my kids still say they love me. I’m learning to cook now so I guess that is a start. 🙂 I agree, it is about the hugs, snuggles and kisses we get. The time is so quick and trust me I know, my oldest graduates this year and I still picture him as that little boy.
as for answering that question….Beauty is whatever you make of it. If you think yourself as beautiful you are. As a mom, it really should be how our kids see us and that we stop judging ourselves so harshly. Our kids are the ones we are in this for. I know I can be trying to look all nice and my kid asks why am I trying so hard, I’m already pretty. I think beauty is something we should not be focusing on too hard, especially those of us that have girls because this makes them self-conscience. Oh and my favorite phrase is “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” because like my father always said they can see something you never will. The shine in which a person gives off when they are happy or passionate about something.
I love what you shared. I would also add Beauty is not flawless. It shines also through your flaws. (Found this somewhere on the internet ;>)
to me beauty is being confident and surrounded by those that love me!
This is something I had to learn myself recently. It’s a tough lesson, but an important one!
Great post and question. Beauty is…. feeling good in your own skin. Confident. Unshaken. Beauty comes in so many shapes, colors, sizes. 🙂
What a beautiful post!
Beauty is being true to yourself. Took me a long time to learn this.
beauty is confidence!
Beauty is something that isn’t skin deep. It’s being a nice person even if it isn’t easy.
There are so many things that I could fill into beauty is. Beauty is happiness. I don’t think you can feel beautiful without being happy too.
Beauty is the light in a child’s eyes, the change in colors during each new season, the smile of a friend.
Beauty is faith, love and forgiveness.
Can I tell you how much I love that first picture of you!
Beauty is so much more than what’s on the outside. It’s really about who you are inside that counts.
Beauty has no limitations, no boundaries, it’s free to go as far as one wants it to.
Beauty is being confident in your body and knowing it’s more than just physical appearance.
Beauty is being honest with yourself and seeing the best in all around you.
Real beauty is on the inside. Being a good person is a beautiful thing.
Beauty is on the inside! Beauty is being confident and kind and helpful!
Beauty is different for every person. Some people may find one thing beautiful and others may not. Its hard to say beauty is a specific thing because in reality it isn’t. As long as it is beautiful to you that is what really matters.
