ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY Movie Review!
Have you ever had one of those days where nothing goes your way? I know I have! But even those bad days can’t compare to ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY!
After starting the day before his 12th birthday with gum in his hair and embarrassing himself in front of his crush, nothing goes right for Alexander! He makes a birthday wish that his seemingly perfect family could understand what it is like to have the worst day ever and what follows will have you laughing out loud.
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is a hilarious and heartwarming story about making the best out of every situation. As Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) has a good day, he watches his handsome and popular brother (Dylan Minnette) have his day start with a zit and get worse from there.
While all this is happening his beautiful, talented sister (Kerris Dorsey) falls ill on the day of her debut as Peter Pan but the show must go on!
The situations Alexander’s parents, played by Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner, find themselves in are ones any parent can relate to and kids will find over the top funny!
Ben Cooper, Alexander’s Dad, is the eternal optimist who believes that anything is possible through positivity. This optimistic outlook is infectious and you will leave this movie feeling like, no matter what life throws at you, you can tackle anything.
Age Appropriate?
My 5 year old enjoyed the movie, but I think I laughed more than he did. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is appropriate for younger children, however I feel kids a little older, with a few more years of school under their belt, will find it funnier than younger kids.
This movie is rated PG.

My girls are 5 and 8 and are looking forward to seeing the movie. From the previews I think I may like it more than the book. Plus, I enjoy Steve Carell’s work.
