Barefoot Books Review and Giveaway!!

To me, books are a way to open up the mind to a world of possibilities. They are a source of comfort, creativity, inspiration, escape, and imagination. You can go anywhere in the world with a book, and you can be anywhere in the world in a book. When I was growing up, we were never told we had to put the book down. My mother believed that during nap time, if we weren’t sleepy we could read till our hearts content. The same held true for night time. It is because of this that books became such a huge part of my life. I hope that I can help to instill a love for books in all my children like my mother did for me.

Barefoot books is a company that believes like my mother and I do, that books are a fundamental tool to all things human.

The Review:

In my life I have been a babysitter, nanny, daycare teacher, and now a mother. I have read many many Barefoot books in my lifetime. The stories they choose to publish are beautiful. They inspire, and teach. They are fun to read, and beautiful to look at. They are creative, silly, educational, and easy to read again and again. I was thrilled when I received a box in the mail from Barefoot Books. I couldn’t wait to share them with my little Squish. I just knew he would love these stories like he does most all stories.

Since we were leaving for vacation the morning after we got the books, I picked one of the three books they sent and brought it with me. I must have read it at least 40 times during our trip. Squish loves to look at the pictures, and is in the stage where he only lets me read a bit, before he steals the book away to look at it for himself.

We received 3 books to review:

I Wish I Were a Pilot: a story about the many different ways to get from here to there. This is the book we took with us on our trip. Squish loves airplanes, trains, and cars so this book was a huge hit!

Who’s in The Garden?: This was a super fun story that incorporates one of Squishy’s favorite games; peek-a-boo! I can just see him in the future joining in with the main repeating question, “Who’s coming to see how my garden grows.”

Playtime Nursery Rhymes for Little People: This one came with a CD, and the pages were filled with the most amazing hand-sewn pictures. It really is amazing the art they use to tell the stories. Squish was born singing. He sings himself to sleep, and sings along with music all day long, so nursery rhymes are always a big hit here. I loved that some of these brought me back to being a little girl, and was fun for me to learn some new ones to incorporate into our daily routine.
