Lessons children teach their parents…

January 17, 2012 By Emily 33 Comments

Dear Squishy,

Something they don’t tell parents when you first have a child is how much parents learn from children.  Most often people think of the parents as teachers, but really our children teach us too.

One of the most amazing parts of being a parent is watching you discover the world around you.  Things that didn’t seem like much of anything to me, are the bees knees to you!

I love watching you explore and learn.  You get so excited, and I can’t help but get excited with you.

It’s as if I am seeing the world all over again with a fresh pair of eyes.  And if anyone can show me the beauty in the smallest of life’s pleasures it is you.  Your curiosity is contagious.

I love you Squishy man.  Thank you for teaching me to look twice at the little things.

Xoxxo,
Mama

Your pics remind me of similar ones when my daughter was squishy’s age with the same excitement and concentration in the natural world. Now our puppy reminds me of the joy of total enthusiasm for life.

we really do learn so much from our kids. My mom took all my kids last week so I could have baby prince, and my sister wrote me a nice note to thank me for lending her my kids, lol. She was able to relax after some long days of finals and enjoy the little things with my kids again. Something she doesn’t get to do often.
