Toddler Talk Thursdays {Week 29 – Toddler Snacks}

March 2, 2011 By Emily 9 Comments

Welcome to Week 29 of Toddler Talk Thursday! Where Family and Life in Las Vegas, Crazy about my Baybah, and My Life as a Sippy Cup Mom talk all things TODDLER!!

Toddler Talk Thursday was created as a place for moms and dads of toddlers to come together over a weekly topic and share ideas, go-to toys, or products. It is a great way to meet other bloggers of toddlers. Each week the topic will be different; we invite you to link up, share your weekly Toddler Talk!!

NEW THIS WEEK!! – WE ARE CHANGING HOW WE PICK THE FEATURED BLOG.

Each week the hosts will travel around to each blog to see what topic your suggest for the following week.  If we choose your topic – you will be our featured blog.  (Hey we need some fresh ideas!! And picking from your cuties is just too hard!)
In order to qualify for this you need to blog about this week’s topic, and follow the hosts. And the end of your post – suggest a topic for next week. Comments letting us know you are participating are always great too. If we choose your blog, we will link back to your post the following week.

Our highlighted blog this week is:

House of Woyaks

&
House of Woyaks (Part 2)
Yes you read that right – same blog – two posts!  Not only is her son adorable, but she updated us on how it was going!  LOVE that!!  Thanks for sharing!
This week’s topic is :
Toddler Snacks – Share your favorites & your Toddler’s favorites

You can tell my son has a ton of Swedish running through his blood (and not just bc he doesn’t like to wear pants) (Sorry Farmor, I couldn’t help myself…LOL!)
His favorite snack is “OST” – aka Cheese!  This boy loves him some cheese.  So much so – he has to have one for each hand…
He also loves him some Swedish Pepparkokar cookies.
"Swedish Cookies" "Pepparkakor" "Ginger Cookies" "Toddler Cookies" "Toddler Talk"
But speaking of cookies – I am going to try this recipe this week.
Recently I had the privilege to review a new(er) company called Super Sprowtz.  We read a book called I am Brian Broccoli – and I am super strong.  The books help show kiddos why eating healthy is so important.  (I am hosting a giveaway for your choice of Super Sprowtz book – ends 3/7), but Colby Carrot didn’t want Brian Broccoli to have all the spotlight, so he shared a yummy recipe for Oatmeal Carrot Cookies.  I am planning to check them out this week – I will let you know how Squish likes them!
Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar
4 large eggs
2 cups applesauce
I stick butter (can replace with canola oil)
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups whole grain flour
4 cups Steel cut Oats — soaked
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 1/2 cups grated carrotsPreparation:
Preheat the oven to 350-375 degrees. Using a wooden spoon or spatula, mix applesauce, vanilla and sugar together in bowl until the sugar is dissolved. Add half the dry ingredients and mix until just incorporated. Add the rest of the dry ingredients and eggs. Stir the eggs into the dry ingredients from the top down, then fold into the rest of the mixture. Gently stir-in the carrots. Lightly grease a large cookie sheet with grape-seed oil or butter. Use a spoon to drop dollops of cookies onto the cooking sheet 15 minutes.

She ate all that today!! Good girl!! (Bad diaper…) LOL!! Squish loves his veggies for the most part – but it is always nice to add them to extra places too.
