Squishy and The Fire Truck

May 2, 2011 By Emily 6 Comments

This weekend we went to a local sidewalk art fest.  Nothing crazy, just fun artist sharing their work.

That was until we rounded the corner to come to the end of the circle and saw: “UCK UCK UCK” (aka a Fire Truck!)

Turns out some local firemen were stopping in to get a bit to eat at the local sanwhich shop.  While we were oogling the Truck, they came out and asked if Squishy wanted to see the inside.

Now, my son is almost two, but he sure understood what that meant!

He let go of my hand, walked right up to the fireman, grabbed his hand, and urged him forward.

The other firemen were laughing at how friendly he was.  He really is, 90% of the time he could care less if I am there or not.  He is so outgoing and mellow.  (Should make for some fun “Stranger Danger” conversations…”

He sat up in the driver’s seat, got his picture taken, pushed a bunch of buttons, and then it was time to get down.

Squishy was not happy about this.  He even threw the Junior Fire Fighter Badge back at the fireman.  (Oops – Parent Fail on not throwing…)

But the firemen all took it in stride, got back into the truck, and Squishy’s mood turned back around as he was able to wave and yell “BYE UCK” over and over.

That is so cute! Wow! How nice of the firemen to allow him in the cab! I’m sure that moment had him beaming!

Lucky boy! I hear you on the stranger danger though! My 3yo grabbed onto a mans arm we were sitting by at church and snuggled right up to him. It was so hard not to laugh, but also concerning with her level of comfort for strangers!

    Hey Emily,
He’s such a cutey.. He must of had so much fun and felt like such a big boy..
When my daughter was little she said truck like uck but it sounded like there was a big old F in there.. It was terrible.. My dad wanted a new truck so she would go around telling everyone she was gonna buy her Pa a blue F^&%!! It was so bad & hard not to laugh at times.

Now she’s 13 and not a fan when I tell the story .. Oops 🙂

Have a great and thank for linking up again for FMBT. See you next week.
