A TURTLE’S TALE: SAMMY’S ADVENTURES DVD | Review and Giveaway (US)

January 10, 2012 By Emily 23 Comments

A Turtle’s Tale: Sammy’s Adventure: From STUDIOCANAL and Vivendi Entertainment.  Dive into adventure and fun with Sammy the sea turtle as he swims the oceans of the world searching for the love of his life, Shelly. With his best pal, Ray, Sammy experiences the extraordinary and faces daunting challenges, including hungry sharks and pesky birds. A Turtle’s Tale: Sammy’s Adventures features a rollicking soundtrack and incredible voice talents, including Melanie Griffith, Kathy Griffin, Tim Curry, Anthony Anderson and Stacy Keach. Based on the actual course of a sea turtle’s life, this story of one creature’s breathtaking journey is a thrilling voyage the whole family will love!

Synopsis

Born on a Baja, California beach in 1959, new hatch-ling Sammy must do what his fellow newborn sea turtles are doing: race across the beach to the ocean before a seagull or crab captures them. Thus begins Sammy’s incredible fifty-year ocean journey.  Along the way he meets his best friend, a fellow turtle named Ray, and overcomes obstacles both natural and man-made while trying to fulfill his dream of traveling around the world.  Throughout his travels, Sammy never forgets about Shelly – the turtle he saved on his first day and loves passionately from afar.  Based on the actual course of a sea turtle’s life, this story of one creature’s breathtaking journey is a thrilling voyage the whole family will enjoy.

Review

Recently I took this movie with us to visit my mom in Minnesota.  I knew it would be a movie that the whole family would enjoy.  So on a night before bed, I pulled out A Turtle’s Tale and we had an instant family movie night.

Sammy was absolutely loveable and his story was enchanting.  I really enjoyed watching him through all his journey’s, and Squishy loved seeing the turtles and all the colors.

He kept pointing to the TV over and over yelling “TURTLE”!

This was a wonderful family movie. There was really something for all ages.  While my son loved the vibrant colors and sea animals, older children would really enjoy seeing the turtles journey and learning why it so important to care for our environment.

Some would argue that adults would not enjoy this film, but both my mother and I did.  We thought it was cute!

You can purchase A Turtles Tale at iTunes for $9.99.

OR one lucky Family and Life in Las Vegas winner will get their very own copy of A Turtles Tale: Sammy’s Adventure DVD.

I can’t believe I am saying this, as i was a English major in college, but I would love to see Moby Dick. Read the book a few times, but haven’t gotten around to seeing the movie.
