Creating a Children’s Reading Space

March 12, 2012 By Emily 19 Comments

“Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.”

โ€” Emilie Buchwald

Now that my son is a little older, and has discovered a healthy love of books one of the things I would love to do with his room is to add a reading corner where he can fall into a book whenever he pleases.

He LOVES reading his books.

I turned to Pinterest for inspiration and this is what I found!

I really love this wall!

How creative to add book covers as art!

Since my son’s room is transportation themed, I think I could do this with son classic books on things that go!

We all know that children’s books can be hard to fit into standard size bookshelves.

I love the creative solution for this by using bucket on the bottom!

There is something nice about the simplicity of this space.

But I have to say, if I had the money and space, this would be a dream reading corner the whole family could use!

Does your child have a reading corner? I’d love to see it!

I hope that to be the case in our home, but I like the idea of a special quiet place just for reading too! ๐Ÿ™‚

Our kids love to read and like Donna every area of our house is a reading nook! My kids love to read everything from Harry Potter to war books. Our entire house is littered with books.

Oh I love them all! I really want to create a space like any of those for my kids. I just need to figure out where I want it, and make sure it can be permanent before I put anything up, lol. I tend to move stuff around a lot!

I want to do something under the stairs like that last photo. It’s awesome and I myself would use that. I love to read.
