It’s no secret to anyone who knows me that I am a HUGE Rascal Flatts fan. So much so that I have been known to get caught at stoplights jamming to their latest hits.
And if that isn’t enough, I will admit that while in Nashville TN at Blissdom when they came out to sing for us, I cried. Yep, cried real tears. I can honestly say I have never done that before. I was so wowed by being right up in front of Rascal Flatts truly a once in a lifetime experience.
I even got to take home a set list and Jon Don Rooney’s guitar pic!
When I heard they had a new CD coming out, it was a no brainer that I would own that CD. I own all the other CDs and love them all. If you haven’t heard of Rascal Flatt’s I would question whether you have been for the past 12 years. Rascal Flatts is the MOST awarded Country group of the past decade, earning over 40 trophies from the ACAs, ACMs, AMAs, CMAs, People’s Choice Awards and more.
CHANGED is Rascal Flatt’s eight studio album and comes after Flatt’s first Big Machine Records album release, NOTHING LIKE THIS, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart.
When asked about this CD the band had this to say:
“Given what we’ve been through the past two years,” says Jay DeMarcus, “I don’t think there could be any better title. This feels like the next step in Rascal Flatts’ evolution.”
“We looked at each other last year while all this was going on,” says Jay, “and said, ‘If we’re going to keep doing this, we’ve got to recommit ourselves to do it better, do it stronger, do it harder.’ We know we’ve got a lot left to say.”
Starting with the album’s title track, the fact that they have a lot left to say is very evident.
“Changed” was written by Gary with Neil Thrasher and Wendell Mobley, with whom he also wrote “Fast Cars and Freedom” and “I Melt.” It’s one Gary views as a gift.
“I think I just kind of held the pen and God wrote that one,” he says, “but it sums up everything in our lives in the past ten years. It’s one of those universal lyrics that everybody has lived some part of.”
The album’s first single Banjo was almost immediately a country music top 10 hit!
I am proud to say, I have already been caught jamming to CHANGED in my car, but now my son is jamming right along side me. CHANGED is now available, and I can tell you it doesn’t disappoint. CHANGED shows immense growth as well as a new side of Rascal Flatts that fans will appreciate.
Rascal Flatts is currently on their Thaw Out Tour, which earned a slot on CMT’s “Top Tours of 2012”, and on June 15th they will kick off a new summer tour, Farmer’s Insurance presents, “The American Band Tour” with Little Big Town, Eli Young Band, and Edens Edge.
