Day Two: Write a List Post
I feel bad for broccoli – It gets such a bad rap.Β The truth is, broccoli is not only super good for you, but also really yummy too!
And who said kids wonβt eat broccoli?Β Squishy loves his little trees. Maybe that is because broccoli was one of my biggest pregnancy cravings, or maybe it is just because broccoli is super yummy!!
Here are ten ways we enjoy broccoli in our Vegas home.
Ten Ways to Enjoy Broccoli
1. Steamed
(I like to include Lemon Slices in the water to add flavor.)*
2. Boiled
(Throw in some water – add spices, boil until done, drain and serve.)
3. Fried
(Dunk in egg, roll in Panko bread crumbs and grated Parmesan cheese, fry.)
4. Roasted
(I adore this with a little olive oil and grated Parmesan cheese, or even just Janeβs Crazy Mixed Up Seasoning.)*
5. Topped with Cheese
(Either shredded or sauce, this is a classic family favorite.)*
6. Stewed
(I throw in a can of diced tomatoes… yummo.)
7. Pureed
(Not just for babies! Mix with spreadable cheese, like Laughing Cow light, spread over crackers for a low calorie treat.)
8. Soup
(What is Broccoli Cheese soup without the broccoli?)
9. Broccoli Slaw
(I find this at my local produce store, and top with light dressing, for a super filling salad, or use in stir fry for a quick and easy dinner.)*
10. Raw
(Your choice of topping if any, I prefer Ranch or Hummus.)*
* These are my personal favorite ways to enjoy broccoli.
Squishy is finding the joy in sauces, and currently loves Ranch, Hummus, and Cheese on his broccoli. I also throw it into his pastas.
How do you enjoy your broccoli?

I LOVE broccoli! As soon as I saw your Tweet, I giggled and had to click over.
I ate a lot of broccoli while pregnant too…but then I couldn’t eat it for almost a year because I was nursing my daughter and every time I ate even just a bite of broccoli she’d get terrible gas and just scream in pain π I thought it was weird, but I went with it.
I haven’t tried some of what you mentioned and now I’m putting fried broccoli and pureed broccoli on cracker with laughing cow (yum!) at the top of my list to try.
You have opened new broccoli flavored doors for me and I shall forever be indebted to you!
Great list π

Yay! Glad I gave you more ideas – I had forgotten about not being able to eat broccoli while nursing – thankfully it didn’t last long bc my son didn’t really react to what I ate – so after about 6 months I began to eat broccoli again. π
PS I like to add some spices to the cheese too for more flavor. Glad I opened new Broccoli Doors! HEHE!

I learned so much! Totally trying several of these.
When I first saw this post I was a bit skeptical that there would be anything listed that I would be interested in or intrigued by, broccoli is not my favorite veggie, but you may have just converted me!!
Emily says
Broccoli totally gets a bad rap! Good luck hope you like some of these!!
Andrea says
Roasted is my favourite but I might have to try your crumbed and fried version.
Emily says
@Andrea, You can also do the same thing, but bake them instead of fry – for a healthier version!

Great post! Sometimes I get stuck on a veggie rut and forget that there are so many ways to put a new spin! Nothing worse than falling into a routine, especially with something that not everyone is keen on eating in the first place π
Saw your SU post on the 31DBBB board and came over to stumble! (also following on SU)

Oh man, I so do not like broccoli. My whole family does though, so we do end up eating it. And I know it is so healthy. Sigh. Maybe I will have to try a few of these to see if I can find some love for that tree like veggie. And I suppose I will still Stumble it for those broccoli lovers out there. π
Emily says
Well thank you for sharing it – You know a lot of these work just as well with Green Beans, Cauliflower, and Peppers!! π

Anyway, I just wrote a list post yesterday too! Quite by accident as I just found this challenge on SITS this morning. Love your broccoli ideas. I’ll have to try some of those. I usually just steam it!
