My son has now been in camp for just over 8 weeks. He is loving it, growing more confident in himself, and having a blast.
What I didn’t expect by putting my son into Kidville’s summer camp was that it would be such a positive experience for myself as a parent. I knew my son would have fun, but these “gifts” were unexpected blessings.
First there are the tangible gifts. The ones filled with love and glitter that fill my home. I am thrilled to be gifted with gorgeous art crafts each and every day my son attends camp. I have received flowers both in play doh form and coffee pot filters flowers. I have gotten a gorgeously sparkly little tote bag, (which was promptly take back and used to carry cars!), and even a hand beaded necklace. Stained ‘”glass” window art, and a picture frame. Each and ever craft is special to me, and I enjoy seeing the pride on my son’s face when he presents his presents!
The first flower my son ever gave to me!
The second gift was one that every parent hopes for when they leave their child in the care of someone else, peace. No, not peace in the fact that my crazy toddler is being crazy with someone else for a little while, but rather some peace of mind knowing the quality of care he will be receiving while he is there. I know he will be treated with respect, his needs will be meant, and if he needs me they will not hesitate to pick up the phone. The facility is always clean and the classes are structured to keep little minds busy. I don’t need to worry about him when he is at Camp Kidville.

Finally, I have been given one of the greatest gifts a parent can ask for, and that is time. I know my son will have fun at camp, and that he will be well taken care of by the amazing staff, so my newly found free time can be spent stress free. At first I wasn’t sure if I would like leaving him for 3 hours a day 3 days a week, but I can tell you after the first day I was refreshed and relaxed from a few hours all to myself. Just simply to be able to go to my Doctor’s office without my son was a treat! Not to mention 3 glorious hours spent in a café being free to write! The 3 hours a few days a week allow me to refresh my “Mom-Engine” and be the best I can be for my son.
Thank you Camp Kidville for giving me so many wonderful gifts.

It’s easier relaxing those few hours when you know your little one is having a blast,…they also tend to sleep like angels every night!!! Summer camp can be great for all 🙂

I sent my son to a pre-school summer program 1 – 2 days a week the summer before Kindergarten so he would be used to be away from us. He is an only child and I didn’t want Kindergarten to e such a shock. 🙂 Looks like your son is having a great time.

My children always attended camp and it was a decision I had no problems with. My daughter is home this summer and I almost wish for her own sake she was at camp. I feel she would enjoy it more being stimulated and more structured activities.
