I LOVE my JJ Cole Collections Caprice Diaper Bag

January 17, 2013 By Emily 30 Comments

Before I had my children I had purses and handbags that I loved!  Once I had my son I needed to carry around a lot of baby gear, and I like most parents switched to a diaper bag.  While I really liked my diaper bags, I never loved them.  When I found out I was going to have my second child, I began asking for recommendations on people’s favorite diaper bags.  Time and time again people would say JJ Cole.  After doing a lot of research I knew I wanted a JJ Cole Collections diaper bag of my very own.

When the Caprice in Ash Woodland arrived at my home I knew it was going to be love.

Finally, I had a diaper bag perfect for this cloth diapering mama that I loved as much as some of my handbags prior to becoming a mom.  At first I wasn’t even sure what was in the box as it was so light.  I thought for sure it couldn’t be my diaper bag, but it was.  The Caprice diaper bag weighs only 2.2 lbs.  This made me very happy as I knew I would be adding two kids worth of stuff to it!  Once I opened the box the first thing I thought was how pretty the pattern was in person.  It was feminine and didn’t scream diaper bag.

The bag has 3 carrying options, including stroller straps, a padded shoulder strap (which is removable) and tote handles that are also big enough to slip over your shoulder if you need an extra hand (which all moms do!).  The stroller clips are included with the purchase of the diaper bag which is a really nice option, especially when you do need extra hands!

On the outside I really liked all the pockets and storage spaces.  The side pockets are insulated and are perfect for my son’s sippy cups and my water bottles, and the pockets on the front would keep my personals from getting lost in the bag.  The pocket just about the JJ Cole logo on the front is actually a pretty deep pocket and allows me to store a lot more than I thought it would including my wallet! The lower pocket has storage space for my cell phone and other personal belongings!  I love that I can keep my stuff separate from my  children’s items.  On the back of the diaper bag there is a deep open pocket that holds a matching changing pad.  Since I use cloth diapers I like to use this space for storing my wet bag after I put a diaper in it so it is completely separate from my child’s clean items.  Plus, if you like pockets as much as I do, you are going to love the inside of the Caprice.  Inside has six large pockets that help to keep me organized and maximize the space in the bag.

Since I am cloth diapering full time space is especially important to me.  I am able to carry several prefolds, covers, and wet bags with absolutely no issue.  I can also fit 3-4 pocket diapers in the main compartment only taking up a little more space.  If we are going for a full day out, I have put both prefolds and pockets in the diaper bag.  They do fit, but my diaper bag is very very full at that point.  Check out what I keep in my Caprice diaper bag on a regular everyday basis!

What’s in my diaper bag?

  • Burp Cloth
  • Snacks for 3 year old and mom
  • Toys for 3 year old
  • tissues & boogie wipes
  • 2 diaper covers & snappie
  • Wipes in case
  • Lansinoh breast pads
  • Personal girly items in skulls bag
  • 2 wet bags
  • 2 changes of clothes for baby
  • 4 prefolds and 2 smaller prefolds for liners
  • Pacifiers
  • Wallet
  • Check book
  • lip gloss

(Not picture but always carried)

  • Water
  • Sippy Cup
  • Nursing cover

As you can see in the above picture, that bag has a ton in it, but is far from full.  That being said, I have definitely stuffed it full before!  Longer day trips and packing our labor & delivery bag proved we really could carry a lot, but even stuffed it still was able to zip!

As if the $69.95 price tag wasn’t good enough the JJ Cole Collections Caprice diaper bag is offered in four stylish patterns that really make the bag appear more expensive than it is! JJ Cole Caprice

Since the fabric is easily wiped, my diaper bag still looks as new as the day I got it nearly two months and two dirty boys later!  The only thing I might suggest be added to this diaper bag would be a key clip on the inside of the bag.  Even though I can easily fit my keys in the front pockets, occasionally I forget and drop them in the main compartment.  As with any large diaper bag or handbag this leads to lots of digging on my part.

You can buy the Caprice diaper bag on the JJ Cole web page.  Be sure to follow JJ Cole Collections on Facebook and Twitter as well so you can keep up to date on all the great new products and sales!

I never really found a diaper bag I liked when my girls were babies. So I ended using a huge Coach tote as a diaper bag and it worked out great.

I actually like what you have acquired here, really like what you are stating and the way in which you say it. You make it enjoyable and you still take care of to keep it sensible. I can not wait to read far more from you. This is really a great website.

I was on the fence about this bag because I thought it looked a TAD girly and I am about to have two boys but after seeing your pictures and reading this… you convinced me to order it! Thank you 🙂 Can’t wait until it arrives. (Also, I got 25% off at diapers.com so I only paid $52!!) They are having a sale right now with coupon code GREATBIGSALE on select items and JJ Cole diapers bags are on there!

I am torn between the caprice and the backpack JJ COLE. I like the backpack feature and it seems to be a little bigger in the middle for cloth, but lacks the easily access to pockets for mom stuff that the caprice would have. I have a 3 year old and am due with my second in a few months. being handsfree is very alluring, but so is having all my stuff withing easy reach in the diaper bag. TOUGH CHOICE lol. The prints are cute on all of the bags.
