One of the things I miss most about blogging in the beginning was how personal I was on my blog. These days I feel like I’m so overwhelmed by deadlines and due dates that I don’t get enough of my personal voice into my blog.
I found a fun site with prompts for daily blogging in August over on Outmumbered and I thought I’d join in – why not?ย Maybe it will help me get my blog mojo back?
For today’s topic we are writing an introduction. I thought this would be nice, because honestly, it’s been about 5 years since I wrote my last introduction!
So…
HI!
I just chopped 6 inches off my hair – this is the picture I put on Instagram right after!
My name is Emily. I’m 32. M I’ve been married to my best friend and love, Rob, for 6 years now (although I swear it feels longer!.ย Together we have two boys , K (age 5) and D (age 19 months). They are exactly 3.5 years apart. My older son is heading to Kindergarten (and I’m already a blubbering mess) this fall. Baby D has a rare disease called FPIES. I have a brother, a sister, 3 step-brothers, and a step-sister. In fact as I write this I’m in Florida to attend my Dad’s wedding blessing. (They eloped on NYE last year!).
I was born in Connecticut and moved to Chicago area when I was 3 years old. I grew up there and returned after college. I still am a mid-west girl at heart and would move back if we were given the opportunity. We have been living in Las Vegas for 8 years this September.
Let’s see what else…I have been writing my blog for 5 years now, and it used to known as Family and Life in Las Vegas. I started it as a way to keep long distance family updated on my son’s life and found a love for sharing products and my way of navigating through motherhood with other moms. My goal this year is to cut back on the number of posts I do and get back to a more personal style of writing.
I love being a mom. It’s what I have always wanted to do since I was a little girl. My boys are everything to me.ย We’d love to be able to add more kids to our family one day soon, but hopefully I will meet some weight loss goals first!
Speaking of weight loss – I will be posting a lot more about my fitness journey in the future – especially since I just signed up for my first 1/2 marathon this November!
Anywho… My family always comes first. My husband works as a civilian contractor and often travels/deploys for his job. I’ve enjoyed spending a lot of time together with all my boys this summer!
That’s pretty much me! I will be back tomorrow with the next topic 20 Facts About You. If you want more information click on the button below!
If you’ve read this far – leave me a comment with a brief intro to you!

Nice to meet you Emily! Beautiful family, and great intro! I have been blogging for a month this year and love it! I really like that you come from a blended family because I did also-I have one sister, two brothers, 4 half sisters, and 4 half brothers. My family is also a blended family, I am a stepmom to two children and have 3 with my partner. Hope to visit your great blog more often and Vegas too!
