Little Smudgeez Bamboo Flat Wrap Cloth Diaper and Buckaroo Booty Balm

July 21, 2013 By Emily 15 Comments

I’m always on the look out for great cloth diapering products and recently I received a package to review from Little Smudgeez.  Included in the package was a diaper balm and a flat bamboo wrap.  I have to tell you with all the issues we have been having with night time diapering I was really looking forward to trying out both products.

"Little Smudgeez" "Buckaroo Booty Balm" "Bamboo Flat Diaper"

Night time cloth diapering has been a bit of a troubling time for us.  For a long time Baby D would wake up every morning with a bright red rash from his urine.  He just has very sensitive baby skin.  We tried everything, from different cloth diapers, to disposable diapers, to extra changes in the middle of the night.  Disposables left him with a rash, and night time changes always left me with a dry baby who was wide awake in the middle of the night.  What I have learned in the 7+ months we have been using cloth diapers on Baby D is that bamboo is AWESOME and a good barrier cream is key!

About Little Smudgeez:

After finding that northern Nevada had no cloth diaper resources or presence, Adrienne Snow (daughter) and Becky Sarnowski (mother), began sewing diapers out of their home and selling them locally. As word spread about Little Smudgeez, orders began coming in from all over the country and abroad. Becky’s son, Justin Sarnowski, began helping with the family business by creating a website for the small company and taking the lead in building their online store and getting the word out nationally about Little Smudgeez.

They have several great products, and I am going to highlight two in this post.  However over the next few months I will also be featuring a couple more products from them as well as hosting a couple giveaways!  I love that they are Nevada based!

Bamboo Flat Wraps:

"Little Smudgeez" "Bamboo Cloth Diaper" "Bamboo Flat Wrap" "Bamboo Review" "Cloth Diapering"

This 70% bamboo 30% organic cotton flat diaper is sort of a combination of a prefold and a contour diaper. The added wings allow for a great fit every time!  It is super trim, very soft, and really absorbent. As compared to cotton bamboo can hold 60% more weight. I have found it to be a great diaper for naptime, or as an added booster while sleeping at night.  Bamboo is a natural material and when I use it at night I have found that we wake up with little to no redness.  (You do need to use a cover when using the flat wrap.)

Fit: A – completely adjustable with use of fastener.
Ease of Use: A+ – These practically fold themselves!
Performance on it’s own: A+
Performance as a booster: A++
Patterns: Not Offered
Price: A
Overall: A+ These are a diaper that every cloth diapering parent will love having in their stash!

Buckaroo Booty Balm:

"Little Smudgeez" "Little Smudgeez Review" "Buckaroo Booty Balm" "Diaper Cream" "Cloth Diapering"

This booty balm can be used as a protectant or barrier cream to help prevent diaper rash, or as a soother for already chapped or rashed skin.  It applies really easily.  You can rub it directly to baby’s skin or apply it to your fingers then put it on baby’s bottom.  I prefer to do the second method as I have found this to be a wonderful balm for extra dry skin in other places as well.  It really provides a great layer between diaper and baby’s skin.  I have also used it to help soothe some eczema spots on my son’s legs as well as relieve my chapped fingers. In Vegas we are very dry and my hands often crack below my nails.  This is a great soother and protectant for me.

Ingredients include:

  • Grape seed Oil
  • Beeswax
  • Lavender Oil
  • Tea Tree Oil
  • Vitamin D
  • Shea Butter
  • Jojoba Oil
  • Chamomile
  • Organic Olive Oil
    and more.

Little Smudgeez products are also made in the USA which is great.  They are priced very affordably as well.  The bamboo fitted wrap retails for $15.95 and the Buckaroo Booty Balm retails for $8.50.  Both of these products are ones that I highly recommend.  I hope to be adding at least 2 more bamboo flats for our night time diapering solution.

You can find Little Smudgeez online and on twitter.

I don’t do cloth diapering (tried to, but it didn’t work for me), but I love these type of balms. They really work for my daughter’s sensitive skin!

Wow! I’m really loving the ingredients list from the balm! It sounds like it would just be amazing to have around for dealing with dry skin in general.

Looks like it’s a great cloth diaper and that’s awesome that bamboo works well with his sensitive skin. The booty balm looks great as well!

I am new to cloth diapering, but I have never seen a flat that looks so easy to use! I would try them out if I didn’t have a full stash as it is 🙂

I need to check out this balm. My kids are well past diaper stage but I would love to try this on my daughters dry skin and when she gets a big chaffed down there.
