Tales from the Scale {Nutrisystem Week 18}

March 20, 2011 By Emily 5 Comments

"Nutristytem" "Food" "Family and Life in Las Vegas" "Weight Loss" "Diet"

When I got on the scale this week, a million things ran through my head as I saw the number that appeared.  I knew I wasn’t expecting a loss, but this?

After I cried, (Yes, real tears people) I thought about what got me here.

For the past two weeks I have been straying from the Nutrisystem program a lot more than I planned, well not that I planned to stray from the program, but I found myself emotional eating a lot more than usual.

Sure, there are many reasons why I did this. (Husband deploying, facing 3-4 months single parenting again, everyday issues…)  But, really I know emotional eating doesn’t solve the long term problem and yet day after day I found myself eating crap.

So I have this question for you:
How do you keep from Emotional Eating?

So tonight, after the hubs left, I resolved myself to getting back on plan.  Nutrisystem’s program is so easy to follow.  I just need to stop blindly digging for junk, and find some other way to deal with my stress.

I have planned out my meals and snacks for the next 4 days, and am looking forward to a great week.

Oh, I did have one small victory along with my huge set back this week.  I am 100% Diet Coke free! And I have only been drinking water for the past 5 days, which means that I have consistently made my water goals every day!

Week 18 – +5.4 lbs
Total Lost : 7.8 lbs 🙁

Losing weight is a learning process, and is not easy. We have to face a lot of obsticles and emotional eating is one of them.

You are doing so much more than losing weight and I know you can do this!

I completely understand how difficult this must be. I too am an emotional eater. Since I’ve joined Nutrisystem though, I have been dealing with it quite well. I’ve been making sure to eat all of the unlimited foods, and when I feel like I really need something I pick something that isn’t too bad. For instance, on Friday’s I have a “free day” and I’ll get one of the low fat chinese boxes from the grocery store. They only have 2.5g of fat, and are soo delicious!

Like Dawn said, Hang in there. You may have had a bad week, but just stay positive, and the next few weeks will be great 🙂

Kudos for not giving up! It takes time to make a lifestyle change. It is a process.

When I am feeling that need-to-eat-because-of-my-emotions I try to choose hot tea instead. It satisfies the oral fixation but doesn’t add inches back to my waist. Just my little trick.

Life can throw you some curve balls. But not punishing ourselves too much for our mistakes and learning from the struggles makes us stronger people in the end.
