Health Benefits of Wheat Grass + Gingerbread Smoothie Recipe

December 3, 2014 By Emily 31 Comments

When I lived in Chicago I used to be a bartender. Every night I’d walk to work and on my way I’d stop into a local juice bar and buy a shot of wheat grass. I love the smell of fresh grass, so the taste was never off-putting to me, but I did it because it gave me such great boost of energy for my shifts.  I never thought much about what else it was doing for my body, and sadly when I moved out of the city I stopped doing wheat grass shots.

Flash forward 10+ years and a company called PINES – The Wheat Grass People contacted me asking if I wanted to try their product. I readily accepted and was excited to incorporated more greens into my diet.  Since then I have been drinking wheat grass in the morning, or in my afternoon protein smoothie. With my husband deployed, my new job, and training for the half marathon it was just the boost in energy that my body needed.

There are so many benefits to incorporating wheat grass into your daily routine. Just one teaspoonful of PINES Wheat Grass powder, dissolved in water or juice, provides the same amount of nutrition as a serving of deep-green, leafy vegetables.  But beyond that there are so many benefits for your body. I love that it is a complete source of protein!

Like I mentioned, I’ve never disliked the taste of wheat grass or anything green. So I like to warm up a cup of water and add my wheat grass to it like a tea. I also add lemon or ginger therapeutic grade oil for taste. I realize though that this might be too intense for some. You can also mix it into juice or even a smoothie!

This Gingerbread Smoothie recipe is SO delicious you won’t know there is wheat grass in it!

I plan on continuing to use PINES wheat grass in my daily routine. I’m super happy with the product and my energy levels. Plus they are NON-GMO and organic so I know that I’m getting a quality product that is really good for my body in so many ways! I’d love to try PINE beet juice powder next. I love fresh beet juice after a run, and I’m guessing I’d love this product too!

The gingerbread smoothie sounds interesting. I’m not sure I could handle wheat grass by itself.

I had no idea wheat grass had so many benefits. A smoothie is an excellent way to get those vital nutrients when it’s easy to slack on balanced meals from time to time.

I’ve heard amazing things about wheat grass but I’ve never had it. A gingerbread smoothie sounds amazing, though. It’s definitely something I want to make and try 🙂

I used to do shots of wheatgrass with a friend of mine who had a juicer. I love the way it tastes. I’m blown away by the gingerbread smoothie that looks all green and stuff. I’m going to need for you to make that for me, okay? 🙂

Not so sure about the wheat grass alone, but I wouldn’t be against trying the smoothie! Is it kinda like putting kale in a smoothie? You can see it but don’t taste it so much? I could do that! I would love those benefits though. The energy thing is what I need!

I have never tried wheat grass. I had a pretty major surgery 7 months ago and due to lack of vitamins, iron etc in my body my hair has been falling out and I haven’t been getting the nutrients I need. The Dr. put me on iron supplements. If wheat grass is high in Iron I would love to try it. I am always looking for ways to get in my nutrients now.

I’m not sure I could do the wheatgrass all by itself, but I’m pretty sure it would go down pretty easy in the Gingerbread smoothie. Ginger makes EVERYTHING yummy!
