Weekly Meal Plan (1/7/12) #getthrifty

January 7, 2013 By Emily 9 Comments

One of my goals this year is to get back to meal planning.  When I did it about a year ago we not only saved a ton of money, but we also ate better/healthier food.  I look forward to doing it again, and will be using eMeals to do it! (Although every once in a while I am sure we will add in favorite recipes or dining out.)

"Meal Planning" "Meal Planning Monday" "Save Money"

I do feel like I am more sane when I am meal planning.  I know how my day is going to unfold and what I need to have to accomplish it.

I will be sharing my meals each week on here noting which ones are eMeals and which ones are other recipes in an effort to keep me accountable.

This week my mother is in town meeting Baby D for the first time so things are a little bit out of whack from a typical week.

Monday: Hamburgers w/ Side of Chips & Fruit Salad

Tuesday: Dine out with Restaurant.com

Wednesday: Breakfast Bake w/ Side of Cantalope (eMeals)

Thursday:  Picante Skillet Chicken & Brown Rice w/ Side of Cheesy Broccoli (eMeals)

Friday: Pizza

Saturday: Leftovers

Sunday: Sausage Beans & Rice (eMeals)

I need to do this. The savings would pay for two months of our crappy health insurance premiums. *sigh*

It always makes for a smoother week when I plan meals in advance. I really need to do it more often.

This is such a great idea, Emily! I have never heard of eMeals before! I always intend to eat better, but it is one of those, wish I could but I don’t have the time excuses. However, that is great that you and your family are actually able to complete the eMeals regiment, save time and save money! I will definitely be looking deeper into eMeals as it sounds like a suggestion that comes with a lot of benefits!
Usually, when anything is planned out, money and time is saved. However, it just seems like taking that extra initial step is the hardest part in being successful. Yet, after my initial sweep of the eMeals website, from the link on your post, the site seems to allow you to choose the stores you regularly shop at, which is a very neat feature!
In addition and most importantly, the meals you are planning for the week sound delicious!

I planned all our meals for the week and even chopped all the veggies for the recipes and stuck them in ziplock bags. It saves a lot of time!
