I can’t believe this year is already coming to an end. 2014 marked my 5th year of blogging, and at the same time I don’t think I blogged less than I did this year. This year was hard – I hoped to find a balance between family life, work life, and blogging – but I am still looking for it. My husband was deployed much of this year which I believe contributed to much of my lack of posting.
I’m not going to promise to post more in 2015, but I will tell you I am in the middle of a redesign for my blog which will bring it to a more personal level. In 2015 I hope to get back to the roots of my blog. More family posts, and more food/meal planning, crafts, and fitness – all of which seems to be the most successful for my blog as well as what I enjoy writing.
Before we dive into 2015 I wanted to take a look back on my top ten posts from 2014. Some of these are personal posts that I was most proud of, and others are top performing posts. 2 of them had over 10,000 repins on Pinterest! One of them is even due to be featured on one of my personal favorite food blogs! Click on the post or picture to check out the
{10} Letting Go Isn’t As Easy As It Sounds
My personal reflections on my first baby starting Kindergarten, and the best advice my mother has ever given me.
{9) Easy Elephant Handprint Crafts
Pretty much exactly as it sounds! This fun craft was the favor for my son’s first elephant themed birthday party!
{8} How To Make An Easter Bunny Cake
This cake was something my mom grew up making us on Easter. It’s not only SUPER easy to make, it’s one kids can help in the kitchen with as well!
{7} Don’t Bash The Running Tutu
Maybe I should have know then that this would be the year of running – but if there is one thing I can’t stand for it’s bashing others. Just say NO to bullies – even those behind million dollar magazine covers!
{6} Kid Friendly Paleo Granola!
This reminds me – I REALLY need to make another batch of this! My son and I had so much fun filming this video too! He loves cooking with me – or maybe he just loves eating the results!
{5} Chocolate Dipped Shamrock Marshmallows for St. Patrick’s Day
This is another one my son loved – I wonder why! I mean who doesn’t love chocolate and marshmallows! Plus they make great school party treats!
{4} My FIRST Half Marathon – Rock N Roll Strip At Night
Remember that time I swore I wasn’t a runner? Well that’s not the case anymore! I was thrilled to cross that first 13.1 finish line! Guess what!?
Eep! That’s me surrounded by some of the very runners that inspired me to get off my tush and just start running!
I’m super thrilled to have been accepted as a 2015 Rock N Blog ambassador for the Rock N Roll Marathon Series! Which means – MORE 1/2 marathons!! YAY!
Okay – Enough of the excitement. Time to get back to my countdown!
{3} Creamy Avocado Salad Dressing
This post was apparently so good, it was good enough to steal! Twice! LOL. Often imitated – never duplicated. (Remember when you share a recipe on your blog – you shouldn’t share the whole recipe and you definitely should link back to the blog… #JustSaying) Still one of my absolute favorite salad dressings.
{2} What I Ate: 10 Days On The Whole30
One of the most popular things I have ever written on this blog is my Whole30 series. Which I guess is a good thing as I’m about to venture into another Whole30 in January! This post alone has 10,000 pins!
And my #1 most popular post from 2014…. #DrumRoll
{1} Favorite Things Friday: Baby Teething Toys!
You know this one was driven by sleep deprived parents desperate to help out their little ones just as I was! We still love all these teething toys and I recommend buying one of each! When it comes to the sleep stealing teeth monsters – you can never have too many options! Pinned over 11,350 times!
Happy 2014 Our Knight Life readers!!
Thank you SO much for commenting, tweeting, facebooking, pinning, stumbling, plus 1ing, and whatever else you did to help make this blog so successful this year – despite my lack of posting at times. Seriously, you are the best! It truly means the world to me that you come visit and interact. Let’s do more of that in 2015!
Please let me know below what your favorite post was – even if it didn’t make the list. OR what you’d like to see more of next year!
